Very funny and clever, lots of (slapstick) violence

In line with the previous Minions and Despicable Me movies, this one is funny, clever, and charming. I do have to say that it felt more mature in terms of the violence than previous movies. I personally love action movies, especially big shoot outs and fight scenes, but this is a kids movie and there should be limits. Lots of guns, hand to hand combat, speeding vehicles etc, although all done in a slapstick manner, it's still a bit much for younger kids. My kids are teens and preteens and I was totally fine with them seeing this movie. But if they were 6 or 7? I think the violence would be too much. CS review misses several instances of violence that are important to mention, for example an adult teacher speaks menacingly to children who are clearly afraid of him; an adult hits another adult with an object in a context that implies she hits children as well (trying not to give spoilers here), and an animal is kept in poor conditions and is clearly afraid of it's owner (a bad person in the movie). Great values in the movie overall, about family members taking care of each other, and children being kind to animals. Definitely recommend, but I would consider 8 and up.

**Despicable Me 4: The Best One Yet**

"Despicable Me 4" is the best installment in the series yet, striking a perfect balance between humor and heart. It's more appropriate than "Minions 1" and "Despicable Me 3," making it suitable for all ages. The story is engaging, and the characters are as lovable as ever. I hope it's not the end of the franchise, as this film truly shines.

Unsettling, kids found it ok

A very average addition to the series. It didn’t have the fun and freshness of the other movies, no layering of jokes for older kids/parents. A lot of physical violence generally and peril for a baby. There was something about the themes of this film that struck me as really inappropriate and unsettling. Adult man alone in a tree house with a teenage girl having secrets (with her legs spread open and him sunk into a beanbag, eyes at crotch height), kids babysitting babies left alone for predators, abducted babies who are then dangerously crashed into a contraction site. We view the minions like silly children, yet in this movie they mutate them and it’s not resolved what happens to those they have sacrificed. Overall a bit disturbing but if your kids are under 10 they’ll proberbly look past these issues and just enjoy it for what it is. As the parent I wasn’t super happy.
