While some aspects aren't well-defined, and the action isn't visually captivating, the guessing and logic involved makes the game generally enjoyable. At first glance, Random Dice: GO's premise seems fairly straightforward. Kids choose between two options from a five-dice deck, dragging and dropping the item onto a square where it'll be most beneficial. Early in the game, when you're not sure where your opponent will place dice, that's less clear. As the game goes on, kids can position picks to have the greatest effect by selecting the type of dice that will do the most damage. When they hover over a section of the board, a red square appears, highlighting the tile range the item will impact. Kids need to determine, for example, if they should place Water Dice near one of their items on the board -- which will decrease the other player's attack speed -- or add Wind Dice, which has a low attack value but can target distant squares, near their opponent's dice. Trying to figure out what the best move would be requires some critical thinking -- and can be fun. Kids can give dice more power by either combining them on the board during games by pulling one on top of another that's the same kind -- or by using coins they earn to level up the dice in their deck between games.

The battle imagery isn't very nuanced and can be tricky to see on a small screen -- and somewhat challenging to plan for ahead of time. Although the damage inflicted is listed in a separate section of the app, unless kids memorize the point amounts, it's hard to factor in what deductions will occur when placing dice. But if kids think logically about where to put their dice and hone their playing skills, kids could get hooked on trying to outfox their opponent, based on what they know about the abilities of the dice -- which can, at times, make playing Random Dice: GO pretty entertaining.
