Today, Samsung released details surrounding their 2024 lineup, including the Samsung Galaxy Watch7 & Watch Ultra, plus plenty more devices at Samsung Galaxy Unpacked.
On July 3rd, CGM attended an event where Samsung unveiled the latest lineup of a few different weapons in their arsenal. We were treated to a sneak peek of the newest phones, earbuds and watches with their new Samsung Z Series smartphones, the Z Flip6 and Z Fold6, the Galaxy Buds3 and Galaxy Buds3 Pro and the Galaxy Watch7 and Watch Ultra.
With such a large lineup, we were given a lot of time to play with all of the new Samsung gear and learn all about some of the newest features available. Here is what we learned about the Samsung Galaxy Watch7 and Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra.
Samsung announced details about their new Galaxy Z phone lineup and Buds3 lineup and also included plenty of details about the Watch7 and Watch Ultra. Both the Samsung Watch7 and Samsung Watch Ultra have upgraded their processors to the 3nm Exynos W1000 (from the W930 at 5nm). They have the same amount of RAM as their predecessors (2GB) but double the internal storage to 32GB. In the latest version, they are also capable of tracking more complex sports, such as triathlons.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch7 comes in two sizes: the small has a 1.31” screen with a 432×432 pixel resolution, and the large has a 1.47” screen with 480×480 pixels at its widest. The small has a 300mAh battery, while the large has 425mAh, but both of these are not improvements over the Watch6 and Watch6 Classic.
The Samsung Watch7 and Watch Ultra both have an aluminum body and come in green for both sizes. They also each have exclusive colours for each of the sizes: cream for the small and silver for the large. Navigate your way around the Galaxy Watch7 by dragging your finger around the outermost part of the screen to access all of the standard apps, exercises and features known well to Galaxy Watch users.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra is built for the heavy duty user. With a grade 4 titanium chassis, the Watch Ultra weighs 94 grams, more than triple the weight of the small model of the Watch7 (28.9 grams). It has the same 1.47” screen size as the large model of the Watch7 and has an added haptic motor that doesn’t exist on any of the older models.
In addition to the digital bezel, the Galaxy Watch Ultra has a quick button for further navigational assistance. While it has the same IP68 rating (water resistant for up to 30 minutes at 1.5m) as the Watch7, the Watch Ultra has added durability in the form of extreme temperature protection, letting you use the watch in temperatures ranging from -20 degrees Celsius to 55 degrees Celsius and high altitude capabilities up to 9000m (that’s higher than everest if you were planning to look it up).
