If your hands aren’t covered in sticky dough are you even baking?

It’s inevitable! It’s part of the fun!

Your inclination might be to wash your hands when they’re covered in sticky dough.

But fight the temptation. We have a better idea.

Wash your hands in flour instead.

Seriously. As someone who works with flour all the time, I can vouch that this trick works wonders.

The concept is easy:

  1. Take some flour or cornmeal and rub your hands together.
  2. Throw out/compost the excess.
  3. Rinse your hands with cold water.

Washing hands covered in dough is annoying. The water makes the dough pastier and more challenging to remove. Using flour as friction will help “deglue” the gunk off, leaving you with hands just slightly coated in flour.

Bathing your hands in flour also feels therapeutic.
