I was one of the many who discovered MCV2 was back in it's arcade glory too late. By the time I found out that Arcade1up had made some, they were sold out and finding them on the 3rd market was a pricy endeavor. So when I heard that they were re-releasing a deluxe version with the X-Men '97 theme I knew this was my opportunity to finally have a MCV2 arcade cabinet in my house!The directions to build the cabinet are fairly simple to follow. They do a good job of showing what you need to do and the direction the parts need to be facing. I only got really confused once, but my wife figured it out and we were easily able to put this together.The board doesn't need a deck protector, I guess, according to the sticker attached to it, but I think I would have preferred one in case of scratches or spills, but it's not a deal breaker for me.What I was most impressed with was how much better the joysticks and buttons feel! They feel so much more responsive than the Mortal Kombat sticks and buttons I tried out at my local Best Buy. I thought I was going to have to replace them for sure, but I like them and I think I'll keep the factory installed buttons for a while and keep my replacements as emergency back-ups.My player one joystick was missing it's threading, so the joystick head doesn't screw on, so it's not attach fully, but I've already heard back from Arcade1up and it sounds like they're going to make it right. I'll update my review depending on how they officially respond, but so far, so good.For an in-home arcade unit it's exactly as large as it needs to be. It doesn't take up a ton of space, but allows two grown people to stand side-by-side and have the real arcade experience in home. I was concerned that the lack of riser would be an issue for me because I'm so tall, but the unit has a good height without it. I still require a stool to play though, I'm 6'5", so the world was not designed with my height in mind, I've come to accept this.Overall impressions, the is a critical hit to the nostalgia bone. I will be playing a game at home that I spent hours and hours and Lord knows how many rolls of quarters on with my kids. And that's something that a video game on a console just can't provide, that real arcade experience.I love this unit and I'm excited to start modding it as well. They give you all the space you need inside to add whatever your heart may desire. So I'm going to be going mad scientist on this unit, but for now I'm loving it just the way it is.If your a fan a Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 in the arcade, I can't recommend this enough.If you're not a MVC2 fan... what are you even doing here?
