3.0 out of 5 starsStarts slow, gets better

After enjoying the first game on ps4 I was excited to play the sequel, however, I’m not enjoying this game as much.
It takes too long to do anything significant. Slow start almost made me trade the game in, but it gets better. Have to be patient.
Controls, such as platforming puzzles are frustrating because the character will jump or drop, missing the target at times.
Too many variations in controls, requires you to hold left trigger then while doing that tap triangle to change weapons/gear then fire that by holding right trigger. Just let us swap weapons in a pull down menu, the difficulty isn’t the game…it’s remembering how the heck things work or what you have to do to select the items you want. Needs to be simpler interface.
The graphics are a mixed bag, sometimes looking great and other times very dull. The lack of HDR/contrast makes the game look flat at times, also this game really needs ray-tracing to look next gen. Right now it’s just highly detailed and higher resolution ps4 game.
Oh, and Aloy talks to herself constantly, sometimes it’s contextual and helps but most of the time I would prefer a silent protagonist.
I’ll likely trade this game in once I finish the story, have no interest in the DLC. It’s not a bad game, it’s just good. And that’s ok, but don’t have your expectations too high.
