First, if you are looking for a truly free experience, go to YouTube and be done with it. But if you are having a karaoke party and want a seamless experience spend the $5.99 on a 2 day pass and have a blast. For my daughter's sweet 16 birthday party, she wanted to do karaoke. After quite a bit of research, ended up buying a VeGue Bluetooth Karaoke Machine with microphones. I download this Karafun app on my firestick and Bluetooth connected it to the VeGue. I spent $9.99 on a full month pass so we could test out all of the features weeks in advance of the party. What an amazing setup. 38,000 songs, adjustments in back up, main vocals, tempo, and pitch. There is a QR code everyone at the party can scan and queue up songs so the party never stops. People can even push photos to the TV from their phones. Since teenage girls never put their phones down this kept them looking for songs to add and posting funny photos up on the screen, so they were engaged in the party and not texting someone not there. The party started at 2 pm and went to 11:30 pm, the kids never stopped singing for over 9 hours and the parents even started to join in at the end. I fully credit the smooth integration and fun features of the Karafun app to keep things going non stop. (the party was outside and we disinfected the microphones between singers).

Despite a lot of research prior to installing this on my FireTV and Android phone, I was not aware that this app does not allow for the singer's voice to be integrated into the song. This is not what I wanted on a Karaoke app. The only difference between pulling up a karaoke version of a song on YouTube and this app are a few features outlined below:

PROS:
-wide song selection
-easy control of the volume of both the background vocals and the lead singer on the track
-use multiple devices so singers can queue their own songs
-not a bad price if you just want to subscribe a weekend every month or so and you need these features

CONS:
-the app is not designed to incorporate the karaoke singer's voice into the track as it plays

This app does not work correctly. They suck you into pay for a subscription and the features do not work. You won’t know this till after they got your money. The remote control feature does not work on the Firestick. The other devices cannot send songs to the Firestick app because the developers left out the “queue”. You’re supposed to be able to synch another device to the Firestick app and have the songs sent so they play on the tv but they don’t because again the queue option is not there. So don’t waste your money or your time

Really cool app. Just like karaoke at a bar minus the smoke and drunk people! We downloaded this app for an 8 year old birthday party and it was a huge success. In the settings, you can choose for the app to sing everything, just background vocals or nothing. My daughter loved singing along WITH the song since she doesnt always know all the words. We used a microphone with a built in speaker so there was no need for an elaborate setup. If you pay for the app, there are 1000s of songs in hundreds of categories (playlists). We seriously couldn't even go through all of them. We will be enjoying this for a while.

I like the fact that you can adjust the backup vocals and key but that's it. Unless you want to karaoke a lullaby or a national anthem, you have to pay for any actual good songs... and that's not fun.

I’ve been using KaraFun for many years and haven’t found a better player. Yes you have to subscribe to get the full benefits but the tracks are studio quality and can be saved off line. You can also play tracks you have purchased or otherwise obtained elsewhere with this player. Don’t forget this is a business and businesses need money to survive I have tried YouTube but fed up with the constant advertising.
