My One Day Review of the PSVR 2

My One Day Review of the PSVR 2
I don’t know if it is because I only had 2 ½ hours of sleep , I don’t know if it is because i have not eaten today , but I do not think I like the PSVR2 as much as I thought I would have ? Like it looks really cool , and for some games you truly do feel like you are in it , but to be honest I thought it would be as if you are actually in the world but it is not , it is more so just looking at the world in 3D . Feels more like a projection than a hologram. It is also not as plug and play as I thought it would be , but instead you literally have to redo two settings every single time you pick the vr up or take it off your face . It also gets so hot when playing standing games . You also have to manually adjust the vr every time you put it on and there aren’t any clicks or etc to help you remember . you legit have to guess every single time you put it on. It is also not wireless it is used with a single wire that has to go into the ps5 . Now imagine how annoying turning in a circle can be with a wire getting tangled around you especially when it cost almost $600 USD after taxes . It also doesn’t come with charger stand . It comes with a single charger for two controllers . I have a night stand with 4 chargers but still I immediately went on Amazon and bought a charger stand for it . ($30 ) . The lenses are also super sensitive, literally one eyelash touching it can blur the whole thing , you also need to almost wipe it down every time you pick it up . Again I immediately had to go on Amazon and buy a pack of microfiber clothes ( $10) and it’s like why do I have to spend money for stuff when I already paid almost $600 USD after taxes for this whole thing . LET ME REMIND YOU this thing cost $150 USD more than the ps5 itself . This is an accessory, and it cost more than the actual product . To put this into perspective this would be like AirPods costing more than the actual iPhone itself . So I feel like I should not have to buy all this extra stuff.P.S once again I immediately went on Amazon to buy this device that helps prevent slipping , sweat prevention and is a” sweet spot keeper “ so I don’t have to manually adjust it every time I use the PSVR 2 . This is $55 ( Global Cluster : CMP2 Comfortable Mod for PSVR 2 )PROS:Now with alll the bad out of the way this $H*T is honestly amazing. This PSVR 2 tracks eye movement and has this rendering thing that makes everything you look at 100xs more hd . It also has these adaptive things that you can feel through your head and hands. For example you can literally feel a raindrop hit your head . You may not feel the temperature but you feel the pressure , same with wind , or bullets etc . The headset I have is 3D audio so I can hear everything as if I’m actually in that space / environment . the padding for your eyes is so comfortable . The lenses are visually breath taking . the led is amazing the colors be coloring lol . for example if its sunny , the colors are so damn good and HD that you can almost feel the warmth of the sun. the controllers feel , look and respond so damn good ! guns feel like guns . you control all your fingers . you may not feel like you are actually physically in the worlds / environments , but everything feels way more alive . when you are holding a gun , its no longer just staring at virtual set of arms holding a gun and reloading it for you, but instead your arms feel like you are holding a gun and can grab each bullet . a great example of this feeling would be going to a cashier and watching them scan your items vs doing self checkout and actually picking up your items , scanning them and placing them in a bag . so again it may not feel like we are actually in the world but it makes every thing way more alive . You see something on a shelf you can go and pick it up , if you see a barrel with a cover on it , you can literally walk over to it , left the cover up , peak inside and grab something if you wanted . You just always feel connected to the game . It also takes you away from the real world like there’s no taking breaks inbetween moments for me , like peeking at my phone to respond to a text or something. once you got the vr on you’re locked in without even noticing how long you’ve actually been playing . You are 100% paying for technology here more than product , the science , the feedback and motion sense , the protective field it gives you IS PHENOMENAL, I haven’t ran into a wall , couch , tv , table , NOTHING it fully protects you in every single environment. The wire situation you kind of get used to, you gain a habit of just step over it before it gets wrapped up around you . The very first time I used it today I just didn’t really like it to be honest . PSVR 2 Felt blurry , it made me nauseous a bit , and I just felt like it was not for me , but then I took a 2 ½ hour nap and played for around 10 minutes before I had to get ready for work and this time around I had a wayyyy better experience and the world seemed way more real to me .

Stepping into VR with Sony's latest PlayStation VR2, bundled with Horizon Call of The Mountain™, has been a revelation. Coming from a PC VR background, I've been pleasantly surprised by how Sony has leveled up the game with the PS5 and PSVR2. The setup is a breeze compared to the hoops I used to jump through with my PC setup. Honestly, it's almost like comparing apples to oranges when you look at the ease of getting everything up and running. And the graphics? They're nipping at the heels of the Vive Pro 2, which is saying something.

For anyone looking to dip their toes into VR waters, I'd nudge you towards this PS5 and PSVR2 combo. It’s the simplicity and ease of setup that really seals the deal for me. It’s as close to plug-and-play as VR has ever been.

But it’s not all smooth sailing. There’s a bit of a hiccup with the handheld controllers; they occasionally need a reset to play nice with the games. There’s a tiny reset button you'll need to prod with a pin on the back of the controller. It’s a bit of an annoyance and, frankly, something Sony should've ironed out by now. Hey Sony, it’s time for a fix!

Despite this minor gripe, the overall experience has been stellar. The PlayStation VR2, paired with the immersive landscapes of Horizon Call of The Mountain™, offers an entry into VR that’s hard to beat. It’s straightforward, hassle-free, and delivers an impressive visual punch that gets you close to the high-end PC VR experience, without the usual setup dance. If you’ve been on the fence about stepping into VR, this bundle might just be your perfect entry point.

It is beyond amazing in every way. The most fun I've had in years. 2 minor complaints but they don't take away from its amazingness. 1. The cord for the headset should be wireless if possible. 2. I hated the first PSVR headset with a passion. It was the biggest waste of money I’ve ever experienced; In my 3 years of owning it, I maybe used it 10 times bc of how much of a hassle it was to set up and the lackluster gaming experience. I mean it when I say the PSVR2 is light years ahead of the first one. Almost every problem I had was not only addressed, but completely solved. There is 1 cable, that’s it. No more multiple HDMI cables and a whole separate module to run the headset. Just 1 usb c that plugs into the front of your PS5. That alone is worth the price of admission. The controllers are far superior, more similar to VR controllers for PC platforms than the Wii remote rip off from the first one. A built in headset, so you don’t have to plug in your old earbuds and have them constantly ripped out of your ears. The ease of use is the best part about this. It takes maybe 45 seconds to set up, disregarding the play area scanning, that can take a little while if your room is a little wonky and doesn’t have a square area you can scan. I’ve played a few games so far, with the Horizon game being the best in my opinion. It’s awesome shooting a bow and actually having to pull the arrow back and reach over your shoulder to grab another one. It’s immersive as all hell and I love it. You have to play No Man’s Sky as well, the flying is quite possibly the coolest gaming experience I’ve ever had. Actually being able to control the throttle and joystick is insane. I do wish Sony would back some more games for this headset, as the lineup is a little weak, especially compared to what is available on other VR platforms. But the big titles that are here are solid and will be enough to justify this very expensive purchase in my opinion. My only issues with the headset itself are the lenses and the lack of airflow. The picture quality isn’t perfect, it will look blurry if you don’t adjust the lenses perfectly, there’s really no margin of error for that unfortunately. Even when you do find that perfect adjustment, it’s still a little blurry. I find myself taking the headset off quite a lot because of how hot it can get under it. The lenses fog up a lot and I have to wipe the sweat off of my face, which completely breaks the immersion. Overall, I love this thing. I’ve used it more in the 2 weeks I’ve owned it than I did in the 3 years I owned the first headset. I’d say wait for a sale to come around if you’re not totally sold on VR and aren’t really sure if this is something you’ll use a lot. If you do like VR and can see yourself using this quite often, then I’d absolutely recommend buying it as soon as you can. This is an incredible experience.

First, I’ll start by saying I am a huge PlayStation fan and a huge fan of the original PSVR. I was very excited to get this. I was extremely disappointed. First off, essentially forcing you to use the headset headphones is absurd. I have a Dolby Atmos surround sound system and I have no desire to use headphones. You can technically not use the headphones, but when the headset is turned on, even if the headphones are not plugged in, you can’t change the audio output. It is stuck on Headset Headphones output, and doesn’t even show any other options. If the headphones are unplugged, it will play audio through the speakers, but only the front speakers. My side speakers were silent. Some guy on YouTube did a video showing that he bought a Bluetooth adapter for the PS5 and then paired his sound system that way, but that’s a ridiculous workaround, and doesn’t allow you to do Atmos/3D audio.

My other issue is the horrible connection problems with the controllers. I returned this after about two hours of owning it, because one, Amazon sent me a used one when I paid for new, and two, I had to hard reset the controllers (multiple times) with a needle in the tiny hole they have. The controllers would often stop registering button inputs in games, and it was a problem across all the game demos I tried. Thankfully I was smart enough not to buy any games. Turning everything off and on didn’t fix problems, either. So, my experience with this is that it is a piece of junk. Sony really dropped the ball this time.
