Holly Jackson can truly do no wrong in my eyes. As I write this review, I think this should be my public thank you letter to Holly Jackson for single handedly getting me out of the worst book slump I’ve been in to date. We’re talking a book slump that I was convinced I would never read another book again.

Bel Price’s mother, Rachel, went missing 16 years ago without a trace and has left a cloud of mystery over their family since. Bel’s Dad agrees to film a documentary on her disappearance in turn involving Bel.

This story was so much more than a YA mystery. The plot twists in this book gave me whiplash in the best way. It hooked me from the very first 3 chapters and had me guessing until the very last. This story is one of loyalty and justice and trauma. Bel’s character was so perfectly written and HJ explained having human teenage emotions on paper as if I had written them from my brain itself. Holly Jackson is now an auto-buy author for me and I have read all her published work to date. She has such an amazing gift and I love the stories from her brain. Even though her characters are YA, there is something we can take from all of them.

Thank you NetGalley for sending me this arc! 🤍
