When the hinges on my Laptop broke and the screen quit working. Someone in my Apt. building gave me their old one. My only problem with it was it doesn't have Bluetooth. I've bought two different dongles but they only transmitted audio. I need more than that. I need it to transmit and receive Data too. This one seems to work great. Very easy to install and get things connected. My only issue was that it comes with the little 3" CD with the drivers and my Laptop has the type of CD-Rom that you just slide the disc into. No drawer so the disc was too small. But the instructions give you the website to download the drivers so no problem. Connects to everything I've tried to so far, Android, printer, even another computer and transferred files no problem and the Wi-Fi is just as fast as the integrated one. I highly recommend this unit. I am very pleased.

Surprisingly Long Range

I've had to return this adapter as it did not give me the signal range that I wanted. I set it up on a desktop PC in one bedroom and hoped it would enable me to listen to music on the PC in an adjacent bedroom. The built-in BT on the PC *just* falls short of range. The setup was easy, I disabled the internal Bluetooth and once I plugged in this adapter the drivers downloaded automatically on Win10. So it is "plug and play". Connecting up my headphones and a Bluetooth speaker to the adapter was easy. Unfortunately there was no noticeable increase in range with this adapter in my situation. I had breakup of the signal about 30 - 40ft away in the direction I wanted it. It was probably slightly less range than the built in PC Bluetooth actually. I tried moving the aerial and looking for any forms of interference but I couldn't get it to work any better. It may be that the walls/doors of the house are affecting the signal in my situation - but if it's no better than the built in Bluetooth on the PC then it's not the solution I was hoping it to be. I'll try something else.

Good value and performance but extremely difficult to use with Raspberry Pi

If you are using Windows, this adapter is a good value and works well.

Unfortunately the manufacturer's Linux driver is too old to be of any use. Also, there is no official driver for the RTL8821CU in the Raspberry Pi OS. I finally found a driver that works for me on version 5.10.74 of the Raspberry Pi Linux (Raspbian). You can find it on GitHub morrownr/8821cu but there are no guarantees that it will work. I ran into other bugs and problems unrelated to the driver due to cross-compiling the kernel. I recommend compiling Linux on the actual Raspberry Pi system if you are going to build third party modules and drivers.

The bottom line is unless you are willing to go through the effort to find and build a usable driver, this is not a good choice for the Raspberry Pi. So far neither Realtek nor EDUP has provided any help. You may find that other WiFi and Bluetooth adapters are no better in terms of available, working drivers.

If EDUP does respond to my support request with useful help, I will update my review.

This Bluetooth adapter is very easy to install and it works instantly. Actually I didn’t even need to connect it to put in a WiFi password as shown in the book I guess Beto for the Bluetooth! My Kid’s PC was slow and had constant spinning wheel for internet loading connection. It would take long seconds to upload or open a page. Now with this adapter, it’s different. The PC is much faster.

No more random disconnects! My motherboard came with built-in bluetooth but all my Xbox & other controllers kept randomly disconnecting. I thought maybe it was an issue with Windows or the controller, but nope, just shoddy bluetooth. It's an expensive motherboard too (ASUS ROG STRIX Z590-E Gaming (WIFI 6E) ATX Motherboard) and I'm sitting about 2 feet away from it.

I went into the BIOS and disabled the built-in bluetooth like another reviewer suggested and then plugged this thing in and it worked right away. Beautiful.
