    Great wireless guitar system
I am currently using the PTG-12 wireless system for live performances with my band (we are a doom metal band) and I wish I would have made the switch to wireless sooner. I also use the PTM-10B IEM system by Phenyx Pro so my expectations of this were high, and Phenyx Pro did not disappoint. The box comes with 1 transmitter, 1 receiver, and 1 charging cable that allows you to charge both pieces simultaneously. Getting them synced with one another is very simple (I just followed the included instructions) and you are ready to go. You just use these in place of where you use your guitar cable. At first I was skeptical about going wireless because I was afraid of loss of tone, signal drops, or interference, but this has proven to be a very reliable system with no tonal loss at all (not that I can perceive anyway). The battery life is also fantastic. I am able to get through a 3 hour rehearsal without worrying. This system is also in the 500MHz range which is import since we perform both locally in the USA and abroad in the EU (900 MHz is not legal in Europe) so we don't have to worry about switching systems when traveling. If you are thinking about going wireless, either for live performances or just for jamming at home, I highly recommend this little setup. It is seriously great value for the money.

5 months later... the USB jack seems to have completely fallen inside the unit, or something, either way it's not charging/powering the unit. I went to plug these in while setting up the rest of the system for a gig for a top-off before 3+ hours of straight use and didn't get a light indicating a charge on the TX. Checked the cable, both ends still work fine with other devices, so it has to be an issue in the USB jack or inside the TX unit.

This was a test, I just wanted to see what $60 would get you. for the cost, it's not that big of a loss, but I've told many people about these units and have a few friends using them on my recommendation, so I will feel bad if they experience the same issue. While it worked, it was a fun little unit that really blew me away because of the low price.

At least I can use the two-headed USB cable to charge my tablets...

    Original review:

Let’s start with what I don’t like - MOST other bug-style guitar units (the form factor that just hangs on the guitar/no beltpack) operate in the 2.4Ghz frequency range. This guy is in the proper radio range of 530-580. That fact (not digital and prone to a lot of issues) and the price, I had to try this thing out.

In the Box: everything you need. Rx and Tx units, split usb charging cable and a little manual.

Plug-and-play, followed the instructions and everything worked right away. Sound is great (no loss of signal or change of tone). No latency, no hassle

You do need to remember to charge them, which is my only gripe, because I leave these in a case with my live band karaoke equipment, so the only issue I’ve come across was my own poor planning.

Seriously, for $60?!?! I’m blown away, and my main guitar rig has a very nice Sennheiser G4 instrument system in it. Definitely a fan and highly recommend!

I recently purchased the Phenyx Pro PTG-12 Guitar Wireless Setup, and I am thoroughly impressed with this product. The setup was incredibly quick and easy - I was up and running in no time at all.

The sound quality is great as well! It has 20 UHF Channels to choose from so there was no interference, giving me a crystal-clear signal that made playing my electric guitar a joy now that I'm no longer tethered by a cord. The wireless range is impressive as well, allowing me to move around without any loss of signal quality.

The Phenyx wireless guitar Transmitter and Receiver look great and are well-built and durable, and I appreciate the added convenience of not having to constantly replace batteries. The compact size of the transmitter also makes it easy to plug into my guitar without getting in the way.

I highly recommend the Phenyx Pro PTG-12 Guitar Wireless Set to any musician looking for a reliable and high-quality wireless system for their electric guitar or bass. It truly exceeded my expectations and has made my performances much more enjoyable.

Battery - The light is on while charging and goes off when fully charged. Not sure how long it lasts, but it lasted me for a whole live stream and more, which would've been about 2 hours or so; then you charge it just like you would your phone.

Signal - There's no meter for proper signal levels, but when using a distorted tone, if it's too loud, there’s more distortion and some compression; when too quiet, the distortion is weak. When playing with other musicians through a PA system, there were occasional soft “bursts of fizz”, but that should be easily remedied by switching to a different frequency/channel.

Range - I could walk to the other side of the stage and out into the sanctuary some (and this included a wall), but I didn’t “push” the limits.

During Live Stream - I was able to perform songs just fine; every now and then there would be a weird “blurp”, but nothing too distracting.

Price - This is a very affordable unit, especially since most systems are over $100

I knew very well what I was buying and didn't expect the system to be flawless in any situation but unfortunately it just wasn't working well. I expected it to be reliable, as advertised, but it wasn't. Specifically, the sound kept cutting off every 30-60 seconds and each signal loss lasted approx. 0.5-1 sec. It was evident to anyone listening and resulted in a very awkward experience. Neither frequency changes nor keeping the distance indicated in the manual helped.

I tried using it at home with my home guitar rig as well as at a rehearsal place with a band or just alone (there were no other wireless signals there). In the end, the result was the same: the loss of a signal. So I'm returning the item.
