With two tiny rows of razor sharp teeth on its serrated peeler blade, the only comparison that comes to my mind is the mouth of a piranha (I should know, I had 3 of them as pet). This peeler works just as advertised. It will efficiently remove the skin in thin layers, from any fruit and vegetables you apply it to. Because this peeler has the serrated edge blade, it will not dull as as fast as other peeler with the conventional blade. Do be careful with how much force you apply to peeling, you can easily cut your finger by accident due to how sharp the blade is.

As a long-term user of two other OXO Good Grips Peelers, the swivel peeler most of all and for far longer, it made some sense to add one of these. A paring knife has been used to peel several soft fruits and sometimes apples and pears but it is a very sharp knife and poses a risk of cuts when peeling smaller fruits in the hand. This is far safer to use.

The good thing about these peelers is that they last for years. Our existing swivel peeler is about 10 years old or more and just beginning to show signs of wear and that is used daily and sometimes twice or more in any one day. This will be used less often and will probably outlast me.
