Rick Barba is one of the most published book authors in the videogame industry, with more than 130 game-related titles in print, including Diablo III: The Official Limited Edition Strategy Guide and the novel XCOM 2: Escalation (Insight, 2017). A graduate of the Iowa Writers Workshop, Rick has been on the writing faculty at Santa Clara University and the University of Nebraska Omaha, and has published fiction in numerous literary journals such as Chicago Review, Black Warrior Review, AQR, and Gordon Lish's The Quarterly. He's thrilled that the content of his two Starfleet Academy novels for Simon & Schuster (The Delta Anomaly and The Gemini Agent) is part of the official Star Trek canon. I'm a massive borderlands fan and I absolutely adored the humour of this book since it matches so well with the series itself. I loved the little profiles on all my favorite characters as well! I was slightly dissapointed that the two main characters from Tales were not included in the vault hunter files (they each have about a paragraph in the personel files but that's it) as it would be nice to learn which choices from tales were considered "cannon" and just generally give background on Rhys and Fiona. Other than that, I'm very pleased with the book, it's got plenty of great snippets and trivia bits that you might have missed in gameplay and also some random out of pocket commentary that's very fun. Also really happy Timothy Lawrence got his own page as he was my first vault hunter and is usually glossed over by Gearbox

If you're really interested in the history of the Borderlands story- this book really gets into the details on all sorts of things. The biggest advantage was having a truly definitive breakdown and timeline of all the events even from before the first Borderlands game. 10/10 perfect for Canon Compliant fanfic authors.

I just wish it went a little deeper into the character history.

I got this as a gift and there were a lot of publishing delays that pushed it from being a 'Happy Birthday!' gift to 'Happy Anniversary!' to 'Happy September!' but it was absolutely worth the wait. I'm a huge Borderlands fan and this book is awesome: it fits with the universe and it covers a TON of information. I haven't read it cover to cover yet, but when I flipped through and read all the margin notes, there was SO MUCH in there that I'd completely forgotten about, all laid out for you. The only thing is that I wish the book were larger format because the art is such a joy to look at.
