How to work with Alexa and Google Assistant?

Kind Tips: To use Alexa or Google, the premise is that the device is connected to the VOCOlinc cloud. When pairing (during setup), this product requires a 2.4GHz wireless network.
Step 1: Please Download the VOCOlinc APP. When opening the app for the first time, select Multi-system Mode and log in.
Step 2: Resetting: Flip the light switch on and off 3 times at least. Light bulb was blinking one time. Reset successfully. Open the VOCOlinc APP to add the device. After the addition is complete, the device will be automatically connected to the VOCOlinc cloud.
Step 3: For Alexa VOCOlinc App > User > 3rd party connection > Link to Amazon Alexa > Login with Amazon > Login and connect in the Alexa APP that opens automatically.After the connection is successful, it will automatically return to the VOCOlinc APP.
Step 4: Confirm whether the link is successful: Open ALexa APP > More > Skills & Games > Your Skills > You will see VOCOlinc in the Enabled list. That means it's already connected.
Step 5: You can use it by voice control. Enjoy it.
Step 6: For Google VOCOlinc App > User > 3rd party connection > Link to Google Home, and complete the link on the pop-up Google webpage or APP.
Step 7: Confirm whether the link is successful: Open the Google Home App > Tap the "+" in the upper left corner > Select "Set up device" > Select "Works with Google" > Check if there is "VOCOlinc" under "Linked services"
Step 8: You can use it by voice control. Enjoy it.

I really like this brand of lights, once you do set it up with your phone it’s super easy to change colors or turn off/on the lights. The setup is a chore because of Apple being really tedious about the home app but it’s worth every second of effort.

Purchased 2 of these back in September just to try out a smart bulb. I liked the idea of not having to connect to an extra hub device. So wifi and HomeKit compatible were a must. Connecting to HomeKit was smooth and just worked. Siri commands are logical and work accurate to what you ask for. Brightness is a lot better than similar priced bulbs and the colors are amazing. I typically like desaturated warm tones for the evening and the bulbs can do exactly that. Every now and then I may have a connection problem and will have to physically turn the switch on and off. But it is very minor and far in between.
I liked them so much that i bought 2 more.
Waiting for more advanced HomeKit smart bulbs to come out, but for now, these do the trick!

I’m a big fan of these bulbs! I have 8 of them now. I am also a big fan of Philips Hue and mostly have their bulbs in my home, but these are an amazing alternative and are actually superior it terms of brightness and at a lower price. I only buy smart home equipment that is compatible with both Apple Home/HomeKit and Alexa. I also find that most Alexa enabled devices also play well with Google which is nice. I have some kind of Echo in almost every room, which makes it easy to control my smart home devices via voice commands. On the other hand, devices have to go through stringent security hoops to be certified by Apple (which makes me feel a bit more at ease) and I feel like the Apple platform is superior for creating automations/routines. There are also a multitude of iOS apps to help you get the most out of your smart home, including ones that actually backup your smart home setup. I’ve labored over my smart home setup for hours upon hours so it’s nice to know I have backups...for the Apple side of things. To my knowledge, Amazon does not yet offer a backup option for your smart home settings. This was recently very very very painful when I inadvertently deleted all of my smart home devices and settings on the Amazon side of things and had to start over from scratch. Amazon, please fix this or let me know if I’m missing something. Anyway, on the other hand, Apple’s HomePods are quite expensive compared to Amazon’s variety of Echo devices and I don’t always care to retrieve my phone from my pocket or from another room to control my smart home gear. Going with equipment that can be used on both platforms literally gives me the best of both worlds, offers the most flexibility, and security, and these bulbs are part of that equation at a very reasonable price.

No need to install any custom app, works out of the box with Apple HomeKit… HOWEVER, I have had this for 2+ years now and every month or so, I have to remove and add it back in Apple home. This gets frustrating after a while and finally after 3 years.. it finally stopped working

The bulb still lights up. It wont connect to my WiFi and I cannot add it to my HomeKit anymore.

Bought these bulbs after watching a YouTube Influencer RAVE about them, that have should have been a Red Flag. The bulbs are cheaper in cost than the Hue bulbs I've used, which isn't always a bad thing, however, after getting the bulbs powered on and attached to HomeKit I've had nothing but problems with them getting the message "Not Responding" in the Home app and not being able to update the firmware.

A few days after getting the bulbs a firmware update appeared which I was unable to get to install. I emailed support about the problem and they sent me a link to test that my network was able to access their firmware update server, which I was able to do without issue. I was also given the option for what they called "a complex solution" which required me to have an extra cell phone, using it to set up a Hotspot, changing the name of the Hotspot to the same name as my wireless network, powering off the router so that my devices then attached themselves to the new Hotspot network and then using another cell phone to open their app and try to update the firmware.

I emailed their customer service back letting them know I was able to connect to their firmware server without issue but the "complex solution" was non-starter for me as I did not have another cell phone to use. I was then asked about what brand of router I was using. I provided the requested information and awaited a response. I sent a follow-up email a week later and was informed that VOCOlinc support had to go out and buy the same brand and model router to try and determine why this was happening, that was at the end of November.

Fast forward to the end of January, no response from their customer service in almost 2 months, I email them asking them where they are at in solving my problem all I get is promises that there is a new firmware coming. A few days later a new firmware appears, I tried to install it and it still fails. I email support letting them know and I get a response featuring the same text when I first reported having an issue, please try connecting to our firmware server using this link, here is the "complex solution" to try as well.

If you want cheap smart lighting and don't care about customer support go ahead and spend your money on these. They will get the job done. If you care about customer service and security of your smart devices then invest in proper smart lighting like Phillips Hue.

*** UPDATE 09/14/2021 ***

Have bought three of these bulbs, a 2 pack and a single bulb, two of the 3 have failed within a year. Customer service is still a joke, most of the time I have to email them to get status updates and get messages that there were "system errors" in receiving my messages. When their bulbs fail within a year of purchase VOCOlinc's answer is not to replace the defective bulbs but to issue a refund PRO-RATED from the date of purchase. Don't waste you times on cheaper smart bulbs if you want them to last.

For what it costs, this is a fantastic light bulb I would not hesitate others to recommend. It was very easy to connect to Apple Homekit, though to really make use of all its special functions (colour changes, timing - flow, flicker, etc), one would have to download the manufacturer’s own app - which is not a big deal. The bulb itself illuminates well, allowing one to set it really dim but also very bright. It reflects various colours especially in the warm tones very well. But it could do better to reflect the blues. The blue is just a light tinge despite max-ing the saturation before turning into a beautiful purple. Highly recommended. I’ll definitely be buying more.

I chose these because of the apple home and HomePod mini integration and anonymity (you can see in the setup it preserves your anonymity if used with apple home, you have to waive it for Alexa and Google since both those services connect usage with your profile).
At first the lightbulbs wouldn’t connect, and my research said they don’t like 5G. So I called Bell who split my Wi-Fi in 2, so that the regular was 2.8 somethings, and 5G was separate (available to connect my streaming devices to if the regular turns out to not be good enough). The bulbs easily connected to the regular one, and I was able to set up automations on the home app, and control it all from outside the house. Now even if I’m not home, my lighting routines stay the same, down to colour choices and dimness.
The colours are great, from whites to pastels to very saturated, you have a full colour wheel to choose from. I can tell my HomePod mini (which I think acts as a hub) “hey Siri, make the hallway light peach” or as my 12 year old likes to do “hey Siri, make mom’s bedroom green”.
I don’t know for sure if these work without the homepod. They are side by side with the HomePods in the home app, but I can’t say for sure if they would work from outside the house without them. Overall I’m very happy with them after 10 days and plan to get 2 more.
