We had a pretty bad, smaller manual can opener and it wouldn't rotate the can when turning the handle any longer. I saw this one on Amazon and thought why not try it. It's inexpensive and has good reviews.

I just used it and it works great. It's sturdy, sharp, and opened the cans easily. I think the large handle would make it easy for older people or people with arthritis to use too, since it makes the opener very easy to turn. I'm definitely happy with this opener and would recommend it to anyone looking for something like this.

We bought this when our Kitchenaid can opener abruptly refused to work. The handle used to turn the cutter around the can lid froze. The Ultrean works more easily. The operating handle is longer providing more leverage and a better grip. Over all construction seems very sturdy. We have only had this for as couple of weeks and do not use a great deal of canned food, so can't really tell how well it will hold up but at this price it is easy to replace.

On the whole it is a good manual can can opener. It has a nice weight in your hand. It bites into the lid of the can well. But as you turn the cutting edge it cuts easily and then comes to a spot that needs quite a bit of strength to turn it further. This happens on each turn of the cutting edge or wheel until you complete the circumference of the lid. It's workable, but that's why I gave it a 4. I am sure they don't all do that. But mine does.
