Don't be fooled! Even though the new PDP-G looks almost exactly like its predecessor the PTG-12, this device is entirely a new beast!
Here are some welcome changes:
1. The PDP-G is digital and operates in the 2.4GHz range versus the PTG-12 that operates in UHF 550-580MHz range. What this means to the practical observer is that the sound is more clear and stable on each channel. I am able to add more gain without picking up clicks and pops and analog artifacts that seemingly every available channel on the PTG-12(old device) had. This can be both a positive or a negative depending on your application. The 2.4 GHz range is crowded with WiFi and Bluetooth devices, so I might not consider this device as a primary wireless device in a professional or gigging rig as your performance in public may be wrought with dropouts or not finding an available channel. It is possible with the anti-jamming and frequency hopping technology that this is less of a problem, but I have not been courageous enough to try this at a public gig.
2. The darker color of the black/silver pattern is nicer. The font and logo are more stylized and professional and the lighter colored (whiter) text means higher contrast and it is easier to identify the transmitter from the receiver.
3. The receiver is marked RX and the transmitter TX, I used to have to look to the side to see which device had the volume buttons to ID the receiver.
4. Frequency response of this device PDP-G is 20Hz-20kHz (nearly the entire audible audio spectrum for humans) versus 50Hz-15kHz of the PTG-12 means I am using this for more than guitars - it has come in handy for my Roland digital accordion - producing great highs and lows and even worked at a backyard party to connect my Prime Go battery powered DJ controller wirelessly to a battery powered speaker with very little latency (lag). I am thinking of purchasing another one to make a stereo completely wireless and battery operated rig.
5. The new white split USB charging cable means that I can locate this charger properly easier than the former black cable.
The negative:
1. I did like the old case with the hinged lid and the magnetic latching cover. This was nice enough to keep the devices in permanently and transport them. The new box is two piece and will find less use transporting the devices. I will likely take the old box to transport the new devices.

-Guitarists or instrumentalists whose instrument has a quarter inch jack output.
-Musicians who want to practice untethered from a cable.
-Audio enthusiasts or hobbyists that perform in a lot of home backyard/practice studio situations where you can test interference and proper operation before use.
I cannot suggest this unit for wireless connection for the gigging musician that is not in a stationary or permanent location. I might suggest this if you are in a small church application if you can test the proper operation before usage.
All in all, I look at this device as a wireless instrument chord, and it is become very nice to practice untethered from my amp with my guitar, accordion and digital saxophone. I might be buying another one or two.

My thoughts on the Phenyx Pro PDP-G, it's really good!
First, the signal quality is excellent, if there was any coloration to my tone, I couldn't tell, guitar or bass they both sounded natural and full.
I would say the range of this wireless was “decent”...Don't get me wrong, I think it would handle any stage size just fine, but around my house I would have regular signal drops if I strayed 25 feet or so, now this was through 2 walls and a VERY dense 2.4G wifi zone (home alarm, multiple Alexa's & tons of devices etc...) odds are you will never experience a zone this dense on any stage.
Battery life is good, I would say I averaged 3 hours of use per charge, I think I could squeak out even more time if I turned off the devices during breaks etc...
Build quality is quite good, especially considering the price point, these feel solid in my hands, and I wouldn't worry too much about dropping them (though I did NOT test that).
Overall, I think these are a really good option for those who want something good for practice around the house or using at your local gigs. I have a dedicated rackmount wireless that I gig with, and these will not be replacing that system anytime soon...but they WILL be with me at every gig moving forward, because these are going to be excellent as reliable backups if I ever have my main unit go down.

My thoughts on the Phenyx Pro PDP-G, it's really good!

The dongles are very snugly packaged in a sleek box that has enough padding to be secure in transit without feeling wasteful. The plugs fit securely into the microusb though I did have some concerns about longevity due to the open port design, a small rubber flap or cover would be ideal. At first glance, I found it difficult to identify which was the transmitter and which was the receiver, however, they are clearly labeled. The dongles themselves are surprisingly lightweight but even though the initial feel is that of cheap plastic the casing is durable and should suffice for the intended activity. There are volume buttons on the receiver which seem unnecessary and inconveniently placed but the mute but on the transmitter is a very welcome addition. The plug on the transmitter didn't seem to catch and felt a bit loose but that didn't seem to affect sound quality for me. It sat well folded against the front of one of my basses but I couldn't seem to place the dongle in a comfortable position on one that plugs on the side. While some of these are minor issues, the sound quality and range more than make up for any minor nitpicking I have. I carried a clean signal all throughout the far reaches of my house with zero latency, even through my cinderblock walls where the drop was minimal. The sound remained consistently warm and clean throughout and responsive regardless of direction. I have yet to try it in proximity of other wireless systems but even as a solo practice unit it is definitely hands down a better option than any cord.

Shipping - swift 2 day - amazon box was pretty destroyed, but the product was fine
Packaging - Looks very nice, always impressed with their packaging.
Distance - First test was for an outdoor band practice - we were able to walk the length of the driveway but as soon as we got about 100 feet away we noticed a drop.
This will be a great practice transmitter - and backup for a smaller stage event with limited roaming space. We plan to use this for our next gig this weekend.
Unit - The design is nice, looks like a carbon fiber casing, but is actually plastic. These are VERY light.
Battery lasted past 4.5 hours.
Overall - The sound quality was great. Did not notice any difference from being on a cable to this transmitter. Setup was a breeze. Absolutely recommend this unit especially if you are a budget band and still want excellent quality.
