A witty and deeply romantic modern reimagining of Disney’s Tangled, by the New York Times bestselling author duo Christina Lauren, part of the acclaimed and bestselling Meant to Be collection.

"I dare you to not fall wildly in love with Ren and Fitz! Christina Lauren as a writing duo is a national treasure." — Jesse Q. Sutanto, National Bestselling author of DIAL A FOR AUNTIES and VERA WONG'S UNSOLICITED ADVICE FOR MURDERERS

She has a dream. He has a plan. Together they’ll take a leap of faith.

Ren has never held an iPhone, googled the answer to a question, or followed a crush on social media. What she has done: Read a book or two, or three (okay, hundreds). Taught herself to paint. Built a working wind power system from scratch. But for all the books she’s read, Ren has never found one that’s taught a woman raised on a homestead and off the grid for most of her twenty-two years how to live in the real world. So when she finally achieves her lifelong dream of attending Corona College, it feels like her life is finally beginning.

Fitz has the rest of his life mapped out: Graduate from Corona at the top of his class, get his criminal record wiped clean, and pass himself off as the rich, handsome player everyone thinks he is. He’s a few short months from checking off step one of his plans when Ren Gylden, with her cascading blonde hair and encyclopedic brain, crashes into his life, and for the first time Fitz’s plan is in jeopardy.

But a simple assignment in their immunology seminar changes the course of both their lives, and suddenly they’re thrown out of the frying pan and into the fire
on a road trip that will lead them in the most unexpected directions. Out on the open road, the world somehow shifts, and the unlikely pair realize that, maybe, the key to the dreams they've both been chasing have been sitting next to them the whole time.

Editorial Reviews

Review

Christina Lauren smartly updates the Rapunzel story for a modern audience. Ren and Fitz both feel like real people in the real world with real problems who also have fairytale chemistry. Even Rapunzel skeptics will find themselves rooting for Ren and Fitz’s relationship to have a happily ever after.” — Jillian Law, Booklist

“Bestselling writing partners Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings, writing as Christina Lauren (
The Paradise Problem), spin another convincing romance, the fourth in the multiauthor Meant to Be series of contemporary fairy tale adaptations (after Zoraida Córdova’s Kiss the Girl). . . The road trip is fun and eventful with a satisfying twist awaiting Ren at the end. This is a delight.” (June)Publishers Weekly

Wonderful Tangled adaptation!!!
TANGLED UP IN YOUTangled Up In You is an amazing adaptation of the Rapunzel movie Tangled. Tangled is one of my favorite Disney movies of all times and Christina Lauren bats it out of the park. All of the fun characters are in the book, from Pascal the Cat to the bar full of an angry motorcycle gang.Ren has grown up out in the middle of no-where. She has lived her 20+ years off the grid and was accepted to college after passing all the tests that could be thrown at her. After her parents set strict rules, they allowed her to leave and go to the university as long as she was home on the weekends. With her long blond hair and excitement for life it does not take long for everyone on the campus to fall in love with her, except for Fitz.Fitz is a semester away from graduating and fulfilling his revenge plan. All he has to do is stay at the top of his class. Now that Ren has arrived he is losing his place at the top. While in an immunology seminar, the students are asked to take a DNA test. Ren gets surprising results that make her question her family. Meanwhile Fitz gets a failing grade that he cannot afford and gets caught red handed changing his grade, Ren uses this opportunity to blackmail Fitz into a cross country trip to figure out the male that she could be related to.Tangled Up In You had me cracking up all throughout the book. The book also faces some difficult topics, including abduction and manipulation. There are some warnings at the beginning of the book if the reader is sensitive to certain topics.I would give Tangled Up In You 4.5 stars out of 5. Highly recommend this book!Tangled Up In You is a part of a part of the Meant To Be series. The Series also includes:If the Shoe Fits, By the Book, as well as Kiss the Girl.

Tangled Up in You by Christina Lauren
Meant to Be You series #4 by multiple authors. Fairytale modern day retelling. Can be read as a stand-alone.
Ren Gylden has grown up on a farm, isolated from most modern conveniences, and schooled herself by the books she was able to get from the local library. She has daily chores of feeding the pigs, working the farm and repairing what mechanicals that she can. At 22, she has finally convinced her parents to attend Corona College in person. She makes a deal with them that she will never go off campus, she will never use the internet or computers for anything other than her coursework, and she will be home every weekend to catch up on chores at home.
Fitz has his life mapped out. Graduate top of his class so his criminal record is wiped clean, and become a lawyer and get a bit of revenge for a past event. When Ren starts school during his last semester, he’s as smitten as everyone else, especially of her long golden hair and aura of innocence and niceness. Her scores and knowledge threaten his standing and he’s in real danger of no longer being top of his class.
A simple DNA assignment for an immunology seminar changes everything for them. Ren gets results that has her leaving campus with Fitz and driving cross country to find answers.

Delightful twist on a romantic fairytale in modern times. Charming and fun. Absolutely recommend for a light read. Innocent.

When I saw that Christina Lauren wrote a retelling of the movie Tangled I knew I had to read it! I love their books and I love the movie Tangled. Christian Lauren did a wonderful job at executing this book, I could not put it down!

Ren steps out into the real world for the first time when she goes away to Corona College. She has lived on her homestead with her parents for as long as she can remember. She finally decides at the age of 22 she wants to go away and get an education. Her parents give her ground rules for being able to attend school. She must only stay on campus she cannot venture out and on weekends she must return to the homestead and help with chores and taking care of things. Ren of course has a hard time with this as she needs to get some answers on her past.

Fitz is the popular guy on campus that everyone loves! Fitz decides to go to Nashville Tennessee for Spring break to take care of some things and see some family. Ren joins him on this road trip across country in hopes of learning more about life and her past!

I was blown away by how much I fell in love with the characters. I was rooting for them the whole time! Ren has this humor that I truly enjoyed reading. Fitz and Ren’s chemistry throughout the story was amazing as well! The spice level to this was very low which honestly I very much enjoyed as it really was more about the plot of the book.

I cannot wait to see what Christina Lauren decides to write next! I love their books!

Highly Recommended!!! This was great! I didn't think I was going to like this. It does mirror the Disney movie pretty well, and it is very well written. It's on the same level of a Disney movie as well, as in the spice is a .25/5. I was not expecting all the twists and turns that the author puts you through. The plot even though it resembles Tangled the Disney movie, it is its own thing. It was very well thought out and shocks you. The last quarter of the book you are REALLY thrown in every direction and kept on your toes.

I loved the modern day twists on it and how a lot of people can relate or picture this in their mind. The G-Rated version of Nashville that the author describes is hilarious (if you've been you realize how it would never happen). Overall, a great book to read and can't wait for the rest of the series to show up to my house.

Ren, living with her off-grid parents on a homestead in rural Idaho, has reached the age of 24 without learning about the modern world. However, she's brilliant, beautiful, homeschooled, and self-taught, and when she is finally allowed to enroll in a small college in Spokane, she's miles ahead of everybody else. Her unusual circumstances have earned her a full-ride scholarship, and she's soon the idol of the campus, as kind and eager and joyful as a new puppy. Then, in a DNA exercise in class, she realizes her father back in Idaho isn't her bio-dad. Ren convinces Fitz, a spoiled, rich kid, who is allegedly the rake of the school, to drive her most of the way to Atlanta to find her father. There are layers and layers to this story, to the characters themselves, and they're peeled away with deft storytelling skill. What is revealed at the end is shocking, and then gratifying. I loved this story and highly recommend it.

I love Christina Lauren's books so much that I didn't read the synopsis of this book before ordering. It is Disney's Tangled for grownups. If you know that movie (or the fairy tale of Rapunzel), then you know the plot line of this book. It was a well-told version, and the characters were fleshed out. I have come to expect more unique storylines from Christina Lauren. It was still an enjoyable, quick read.

This is easily one of my favourite books I’ve ever read; and by FAR the best one in this series. (Honestly, it’s so much better than the other 3 that it didn’t even feel related to them at all).
The writing is so descriptive, the characters so loveable, and the story was so exciting. I devoured it in two days and already want to read it again!

This book was so fun to read- well written and so FUNNY! These authors translated this story so well. Held my interest the entire time and surprisingly, never encountered a “corny” moment. Tangled was never one of my favorite Disney films, but after reading this book, I may have to re-examine that opinion!
This book is the best in the Meant To Be series, in my opinion! I know I’ll read this again!

2.0 out of 5 stars THIS is Christina Lauren?!?

I have never DNF’d a Christina Lauren book before. This was my first. Hoping it’s my last. The characters were boring and fairly one-dimensional. Ren, guileless cutie pitooty female lead, was beyond saccharine sweet. Barf. Painful. Having read almost all of their other works, I would never in 100 years have guessed that this was pinned by Christina Lauren.
