Best bang for Buck
I have several mics, notably the SM58, MXL v88, a Blue Yeti, and a cheap Behringer. My friend and I run a podcast centered around Autism. We are both autistic and we speak about life, issues, and everything else surrounding Neurodivergencies.We also speak to people all over the world, with guests like Temple Grandin.Anyway...We wanted to upgrade our setup with mics that have a good "podcast" sound while looking great. We were using mismatched mics, with me on the V88 and him on the sm58.I setup the two MV7X this weekend, and the difference is extraordinary. Both of these mics are much less likely to pick up room noise or pick up voices from other users. The sound feels more rich and full before I even do any post-processing.With minimal processing, I was able to get them to sound EVEN BETTER. They sound great without any processing, but with a little tweaking, they sound similar to an SM7B.The only downside is they do require a good amount of gain and even with the gain at a decent setting you'll have to boost it in post. They don't require any phantom power or preamp.Great buy!
