Kelly A. Clancy

About the author

Kelly Clancy is an award-winning writer and editor living in Brooklyn with her husband, three kids, and giant orange cat named Sherbert. Her latest book Democracy: A Love Letter (and a guide for everyone fighting to save it) is based on the four years she spent criss-crossing the country talking to activists engaged in the struggle to save our democracy. Before becoming a full-time writer and editor, Kelly was a tenured political science professor at a small liberal arts school in the Midwest. She has traveled globally from Bosnia to Belize to explore, study, and do research, and she (not-so-secretly) thinks that New York City is the best place in the world to live and raise kids. Kelly holds a PhD in political science from Rutgers University.
