Dead Out Of Bag

This unit is dead out of the bag. Yes, bag. That's what it came in. The brand new CAT 7 cable came in a sturdy cardboard box while the adapter was swimming in the air of a portable plastic pocket.

Still, I was optimistic. Running Windows 11 and they say no driver is needed. I beg to differ. The last adapter who's name I'll not mention, needed a driver but turned itself off after 2 minutes no matter what computer it was on, and I have three, one of which runs Windows 10. So I have plenty of test units and confirmed working USB 3.1 ports. No other devices, from phones and webcams, have issues with these USB ports.

No lights on the modem or on the adapter to indicate it was even seen by the hardware. I even used the current CAT 7 cable plugged into my RJ45 port on the onboard network card to make sure the new cable wasn't toast. The new cable worked fine with everything except the Farikabe adapter.

Why not contact their support? Because it's a cheap device. Not worth my time to call and want a replacement unit. Not worth the time it takes to run through their script monkey's list of troubleshooting that I have already done. If the device is DEAD out of the bag and it's LESS than $30 overall, I EAT the cost as my FEE for learning which brands work and which brands are utter garbage.

SPEAKING of garbage, if the device manufacturer or seller or whom ever reads this attempts to contact me to resolve anything, TOO BAD. The garbage item is actually in a real garbage can and is getting picked up by the city waste management people tomorrow. So don't bother. Nothing will change. The garbage is still in the garbage. If you attempt to contact me anyway, it will mean two things. One, you have zero reading comprehension like the last company, and Two, I will come back here and utterly shred your levels of intelligence. Don't test me. I'm fed up with doing everything three times for myself and then you think if I do everything a fourth time for you, a dead item actually starts working. Dead is dead. Simple as that. I've been building my own computers longer than most of you middle aged tech guys have been alive, I know how to troubleshoot.

Perfect for 1Gbps+ Internet service

I have Xfinity 1200Mbps internet service (which burst to almost 1400Mb), and most desktop/computers only have 1000Mbps Eth ports. My Motorola SB8611 has a 2.5Gbps eth output, which connects to my 10g WAN port on Unify Dream Machine Pro. Did not work- update: works after driver download

It downloaded the driver, but just as it connected to the internet, it crashed my computer. I restarted about a dozen times but it keeps crashing. I have another tp-link adapter which works just fine so I know there is nothing wrong with my laptop.

Update: I downloaded the driver update from realtek and it worked!

I previously used Sabrent's ethernet adapter and it overheated and dropped connections constantly.
Clearly they didn't care about thermals and the more I read the more it seemed like a common failing of these devices. Yet this one advertises that it has solved the overheating problem. And I am inclined to agree. It has not dropped connections for me over a month of using. I am impressed with this device from an unknown company. I will change this review if it fails.

Was 5 stars but subtracted two after an issue causing kernal panics and reboots on my 2019 MacBook Pro became apparent. To be fair, the issue is due to the Realtek chipset found in all but the most expensive 2.5gps dongles, not just this brand. But that doesn't excuse the fact that these should not be advertised as Mac compatible until that bug is resolved. Fortunately the kernal panics are rare enough that these can be considered 'usable'.
