So far so good on Ubuntu 22.04
I connected the drive and it was recognized right away in Ubuntu 22.04. I paired it with my cheap Monoprice 8323 headset (BSH-1701) and I've been streaming audio for a couple hours. Everything seems to work as it should. The mic on the headset also works just fine. I'll update this review if I encounter any oddities.Update: This adapter has very poor range. At around 25ft or so the audio starts cutting out and then switches to a lower audio quality. I can go over twice that distance using my phone with the same headset and it doesn't degrade quality nor cut out.

I just bought the latest tech desktop PC and Linux didn't recognize the Bluetooth portion of the OEM Mediatek MT7922. This USB adapter works with Linux, Fedora 40 right out of the box. Plugged it in and it simply worked. No need to install a driver or additional software. I believe Linux Kernel 6.10 will have the MT7922 issue resolved in August 2024. Yes, I'm too lazy to compile a kernel patch to fix this. Until then, this USB Bluetooth adapter will do fine.

Worked with Zorin Linux effortlessly.
Prior to getting Edimax's, I had tried 3 bluetooth USB dongles with mixed results. Only one worked and only for a brief period. With Edimax's, I first plugged it into the USB port, then turned on the computer. Once Zorin OS loaded, I went to the Bluetooth section in the settings, and there it was automatically recognized. Maybe the drivers I had installed previously helped, but I had to do nothing to have it recognized. I was able to pair with my headphones and the sound was clear. Haven't had it drop the connection. Finally, one that works reliably with Linux.

I bought this based on the ability to work with Linux (basically a driver issue wrt the core OS). So, yes it does, and it works well. I wish they'd make one with a bit more of an antenna on it as it won't work with a USB extension cord to increase the working distance. For short distances (nominally 100') it works fine.

I bought this to add blue tooth connectivity to my Linux desktop PC. Just like Windows, its plug and play with no need to install a bunch of risky drivers and software. I linked up a set of blue-tooth headphones to test it out and everything seemed to work fine. No problems connecting and the signal strength was good as well.
Great buy for anyone wanting to add Blue-tooth connectivity to any device that doesn't already have it.

Bought this because one reviewer said that it was working with Fedora 33, kernel 5.9 out of the box (the review was about a month old when I purchased this product). Now on kernel 5.10 and it absolutely does not work on Fedora 33 kernel 5.10. Another reviewer on Fedora 32 said that he/she was experiencing random timeouts and that his/her bluetooth device would never fully connect. This is exactly what I'm experiencing.

Drivers supplied by EDIMax come in zipped, source code form and the instructions to install are minimal. They say they support up to kernel version 5.3, which would only work on Fedora if you were running and End-Of-Life version (maybe Fedora 31 or 30). It might ultimately work someday, but the manufacturer should not claim they support Fedora if they're not willing to keep up with the kernel versions.

Would not recommend for Linux users. By this device at your own risk.

I bought this adapter for testing custom hardware over BLE. It worked great with the Windows GATT API and it was able to pick up the BLE device and its periodic advertisements. This adapter seems to have a minor issue with receiving rotating/revolving advertisements, but it is very stable and hasn't given me any grief. I would recommend it for professional hardware development.

This helped me to use my new headphones with my laptop pc that has a Linux OS (latest Mint Cinnamon version). It works perfectly and now my wireless headphones connect automatically when I turn them on. It was a bit complicated to set up and needed a download from a website, but that only needs to be done once. I would recommend this.
