This review is for the AMAZON BASICS Soft Cooler Lunch Bag (Color - Gray). I received a free taxable sample of this lunch bag to review in my search for a nice all-purpose cooler bag.The bag arrived in a brown cardboard postal box with a minimally branded sticker containing manufacturing information. If gifting this bag, I would recommend taking the bag out of the box and plastic bag and placing the bag in a gift bag covered with tissue paper.The cooler bag weighs 406 grams without the strap and is shaped like a top opening rounded rectangular block with a 7" x 11 1/2" rectangular base and approximate height of 9 1/2". There is a 10" x 7" zippered pocket on the front with two metal zippers that zip down to about 1 1/2" from the base on each end. The left and right sides of the bag each have a 7" x 7" mesh pocket. Above each mesh pocket is a nylon loop securing a plastic buckle to which the adjustable carrying strap can be attached to. The adjustable strap itself is a nylon strap with a plastic buckle and clips on the end that weighs 81 grams and has a 1 1/2" width with an impressive adjustable end-to-end length of 37 1/2" to 64". There is also a lightly cushioned oval of the exterior fabric reinforced with seam tape that can slide along the strap. Another carrying option is the 7" x 1" nylon handle on top of the bag that is wrapped with a length of the exterior fabric and secured with reinforced stitching to yet another 9 3/4" x 1 1/2" nylon strap sewn onto the zippered top flap. The overall quality and workmanship of the bag is good with clean stitching and sewn hem tape reinforcement around the zippered openings.In terms of use, the bag is quite large and is less of a lunch bag unless you typically pack a feast, and more something you can take for a light picnic at the park. I've been using this bag to transport side dishes and small entrées to various potlucks, and the insulating properties from the internal soft foam and reflective liner have worked quite well for both hot and cold items. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that the bag can actually hold 24x standard 12-ounce beverage cans as advertised - the fit is snug but doable with the 24 cans stacked vertically in two layers of 12 cans each. When loaded to its max capacity, I recommend holding the bag from the bottom to help alleviate the strain on the plastic buckles or the carrying strap. The front pocket has been great to store serving utensils and napkins away from the items in the main section. As an added bonus, the thickness of the walls is such that the bag can stand up on its own whereas thinner-walled products will usually collapse upon themselves.All in all, this is a nice cooler bag that is well constructed and functional with a good price point. I recommend this as a great option for a generously sized cooler bag that you can take to your next light picnic lunch or to transport small potluck dishes with.
