Good, hefty pump for inflating car/SUV tires, bike tires, etc.
This is a review of the Amazon Basics Tire Inflator with digital pressure gauge. Compared to some of the less expensive pumps sold at Amazon and other retailers, this one packs some weight - which is a good thing as the really cheap tire inflators will walk all over the place as you're trying to inflate your tires. There's also a red safety light, a battery/alternator check, and - the best feature - the ability to set the desired tire pressure and let the pump do the work. Just in case you were wondering, you don't have to use this feature and can control the pump manually if you want.Pros of this pump:1) Battery test. This is a positive, and I've included a picture of the battery test in action. I don't find this to be a feature I'll use much, though. I got this to inflate stuff.2) The power cord passes my length test - I can reach all four tires comfortably by plugging into the power outlet in the front seat rather than having unplug and find a different power port for the back tires. (There are many cheap tire inflators with cords that are simply too short.)3) Thoughtfully stored tips for inflating things other than car tires. These tips are stored in a compartment with a door so they don't disappear when you need to inflate a raft. Good design.4) Easy to stow power cord and hose.5) Inflates pretty quickly. This pump definitely beats the last tire inflator I had in my car previously.6) Digital pressure gauge with automatic inflation. This is the best thing about this pump for me. Just attach the hose, put in the recommended tire pressure, and let the pump do the work. I've got a few pictures in this review of that feature as well. Much better than trying to read pressure off of a shaky dial while the pump is running.Cons:1) The safety/work light is surprisingly dim. You'll want your phone or a flashlight handy if you're using this at night. I've included a picture of the light in operation.2) I'm concerned about the durability of the connection between the yellow hose and the valve connector. I've included a close-up of this connection. I have had pumps with this kind of hose connection before and every one of them has developed problems at the connection between hose to valve connector ... long before the pump itself wears out.To sum up, this Amazon Basics pump is a very nice thing to have in the car, and I'm happy with the product overall - though I do have concerns about the longevity of the valve connector setup.
