Edit: I once again own an Elite Series 2, after realising that much of the button defects I had noticed are _also_ present on standard Xbox controllers. With some adjustments to finger placement this is no longer an issue for me on the Elite v2. I'm not sure that I'd recommend it as I expect the triggers might give up the ghost in the future, but for now, at least, I'm very much enjoying the controller, and it is, very much, the best feeling controller I've had the pleasure of owning (as I'll repeat below in my original review).

---

This is the best feeling controller I've ever held. Paddles on the back of the controller are indespensible, the grip is solid, the extra thumbstick options are welcome. It's a nice black, holds a great charge, etc., etc.

I could sing this controller's praises, and yet, my first goes back for a replacement. Why? As other reviews have mentioned, the 'A' button wasn't registering unless pressed on its exact center. That's absolutely unacceptable for an item with this price tag.

3 stars for now because everything else about the controller is great, and faulty products happen. (I've never had an issue with the non-elite Xbox controllers, so one wonders why Microsoft has these kinds of issues with their premium offering).

Edit: My second controller had the same 'A' button issue, but with an additional 'B' button issue. The 'B' button also wouldn't register clicks. Wonderful. Changing my review to 1 star. I can't recommend this product in its current state. Microsoft's Q&A has severely let this down

Edit, edit: after further testing with multiple generations of Xbox controllers, I've been able to replicate the same behavior across all of them. Why I haven't noticed until now is a mystery, but putting this to 4 stars.
