We’ve got questions, and you’ve (maybe) got answers! With another week of TV gone by, we’re lobbing queries left and right about House of the Dragon, The Bear, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F and Criminal Minds: Evolution!
1 | Did The Bear Episode 5 serve up a distracting amount of “haunting” Sammy, a character we’d never met before? And speaking of the Faks, would a wannabe Michelin star-rated restaurant have someone who’s clearly unkempt and sports neckbeard/hand tattoos working front of house?
2 | For those who watched My Lady Jane: Were you pleasantly surprised or annoyed that Prime Video completely hid the fantasy aspect of the series in its marketing?
3 | When The Chi‘s showrunners and stars teased that there’d be a “major death” before the end of the season, did you assume it would be Douda? And because of that assumption, did Rob’s death hurt even more when followed in quick succession?
4 | Now that Orphan Black’s spinoff has featured a returning cast member from the original series, which character(s) would you like to see pop up in Echoes next?
5 | If there were an Emmy given for Best Single Look That Conveys a Lifetime of Regret, wouldn’t House of the Dragon‘s Olivia Cooke have it in the bag for Alicent’s realization that the “Aegon” Viserys mentioned on his deathbed wasn’t his son? Also, as many memes have pointed out, couldn’t this all have been avoided if the Targaryens weren’t such avid recyclers of names? Lastly, Rhaenyra slipped into the Grand Sept quietly enough, sure, but wouldn’t someone have taken notice of Alicent’s increasingly testy chat with a random nun?
6 | Based on the expression The Bold and the Beautiful’s Tom is wearing, exactly how sour was his poisoned sports drink? ▼ Also, since Li said that she was at Il Giardino picking up takeout, are we to assume that she was never given her pizza while Tom played his entire set? Or was she just hanging around to remind us that she’s a suspect in his murder?
7 | How soon before ABC announces that “Hawk Tuah Girl” will compete on the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars?
8 | We can appreciate a dumb joke, but were you genuinely surprised when the America’s Got Talent judges gave a unanimous “yes” to the TT Brothers, whose entire act is finding the letter “T” in everyday situations?
9 | Of all the names that Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. could have given the title character’s daughter, why choose one that’s just a letter away (and often sounded like) Bogomil’s own daughter Jan? Who snapped these photos (of moments from the first two movies) seen in Axel’s LAPD file? ► (Before you say it, “pedestrians with cell phone cameras” weren’t a thing in the 1980s.) And as TVLine reader Tara Lynn noted, how did Eddie Murphy not once let loose with Axel’s hearty, trademark laugh? (TVQ, answered! Murphy says he decided to stop doing said laugh.)
10 | Criminal Minds: Evolution viewers, did any of you — any single one of you! — fall for the harrowing cold open that turned out to be another Rossi nightmare? And are complaints about the show being too visually dark this season supported by this side-by-side of a Paramount+ screenshot and a press site still of the same scene? ▼
11 | On The Boys, as clever as Kimiko using book title pages to communicate was, did you wonder why she didn’t just use her phone or find a pen and paper?
12 | Watching PBS’ A Capitol Fourth, was “Don’t Stop Believin’” (written for Steve Perry, a higher tenor) not right at all for Darren Criss’ own range?
13 | During NBC’s Macy’s Fireworks telecast, was anyone else unnerved by how close those fireworks cannons were to the stage? ▼
14 | While we don’t expect all the performers on TV’s Fourth of July specials to be singing “God Bless America” and the like…. “Poison”? “Rhythm Nation”? Really?
15 | We know Evil‘s Kristen has had a lot going on in the past few years, but can any other New Yorker imagine having a hole that large in a wall of their home and letting it go unfilled for so long? The rat threat alone!

Kimiko dropped her phone when she was climbing up the wall of Tek Knight’s house.
Pretty sure everyone knew was a dream sequence in beginning of show. With that said; best dramatic acting from Paget and to top it off we get Paget’s comedy at her best in the same episode. Brilliant! Also, Cheers to AJ Cook and Joe Mantegna for great work as always. The opening scene clip should be sent to Emmys for consideration. And yes. The show needs to lighten up the scenes. It’s painful to watch and I can see why some may stop watching.
Criminal Minds needs Reid Back, its not the same without that character
I haven’t enjoyed this season of Criminal Minds much. Elias is the only character I actually like, and he’s the bad guy.
Yes, the lack of decent lighting on Criminal Minds makes it almost impossible to enjoy the show. I find myself really struggling to get around to watching it, and that can’t be what the producers have in mind. Please remedy!
The thing bugging me about Criminal Minds is how little time most of them are actually spending on trying to find the multiple serial killers they have at the moment. Seriously JJ can just take off and go hang out for the day with Emily just because Garcia is a little worried about her. This season just isn’t making any sense at all.
What is it with the dark visuals these days? We got so frustrated watching the latest episode of Criminal Minds: Evolution that I shut the tv off! It’s not the only show doing this now either – if they can’t afford lighting, quit!
In regards to Criminal Minds, yes, some of the footage is too visually dark for optimum viewing. As far as the harrowing opening scene in the latest episode, for a nano second I did think it was real, but when Emily started singing, the jig was up. I also have a feeling that I know where they are heading with the storyline this season.
7 | How soon before ABC announces that “Hawk Tuah Girl” will compete on the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars?
~
I mean, I was expecting her to appear in…..well…..things you can’t see unless you’re an adult
Those dark scenes are more visible if you have an expensive OLED TV with the settings exactly right. (Unfortunately, my TV is a $300 special from three Black Fridays ago, so it’s all just a bunch of murky shapes moving around the screen.)
This is, I suspect, the issue for a lot of people. Unfortunately you do have to keep up to enjoy newer shows. At least prices on better tvs are dropping. (At least as far as I’ve seen.) In a perfect world, the stream would automatically adjust to what you have at home… But hopefully in this one people will sell their nice tvs for decent prices when they upgrade to the BEST on the market. Sustainable luxury I am here for.
I have a good OLED and its still too dark
2) I thought the trailers were VERY fantastical. But I haven’t seen the show. So maybe it’s even more fantasy than it looked…?
(12) I thought Darren Criss did a great job singing on the Capitol special and looked amazing doing it!!
And it’s not like they gave him the Glee song on purpose either. /s
13. NBC’s 4th Macy”s Fireworks was BAD. The music for the most part sounded like Muzak and the camera work kept more attention on the performers than the fireworks. Plus the finale was interrupted by a commercial? Just ill-conceived and poorly executed all around.
5 | Heavy name reuse isn’t something Martin plucked out of nowhere for the Targaryens, go through the British royals, you’ll see many Henrys and Edwards and Georges. Go see how many Louis there are in French royalty. It’s very true to life and history.
Lady Jane was fantastic! One of the best shows I’ve seen this year. I knew it would be ‘medieval modern’ and I love those kinds of show. The fantasy element made me love it even more
11. Seriously?!? Did y’all even watch the show? They clearly zoomed in showing her phone broken when she was scaling his house? As far as pen and paper goes, it was supposed to be an incognito mission! She don’t got time to go searching through his house for pen and paper.
[COMMENT REMOVED DUE TO SYSTEM-DETECTED USE OF MULTIPLE USER NAMES]
As far as The Bear goes, there are well known guidelines for what it takes to be in consideration/awarded a Michelin star.
A Michelin star focuses more on the food and if it is a proper reflection of the chef. They could care less about a FOH person having tats
You’re right that they COULD care less, in that they do actually care.
Yes, 4 of the 5 pillars of Michelin rating are exclusively about the quality of the food, but the “wow factor” of the dining experience as a whole is considered, including the conduct and presentation of the staff.
At first I hoped it was real and it was going to stop suddenly and rewind like 72 hours or something but once I heard Emily I knew for sure it was Rossi having a bad dream because she was on leave.
14. Most of the music on the 4th of July specials has been terrible for years!! I’d rather have more classical, patriotic, & country than what is showcased on those specials. It’s just awful especially for kids watching.
8 i think they say yes to acts they can easily eliminate later
11. Kimiko couldn’t use her phone because she dropped it climbing up the wall to sneak in and open the door for everyone. Surrounded by books with words, she did the best she could in a room she’d never been in before.
Nooooo not Rob!!!
Criminal Minds has gone from a great show to a show that highlights the ‘F’ word far too much. Is that really needed?? It sounds horrible coming out of their mouths. And Garcia talking about her impressive sex life?? Why??
Love Criminal Minds but getting tired of straining to watch the show.
Way to many scenes in the dark, can’t enjoy. May be time to pack it in.
9) Actually, there is a camera installed at the entrance of the city deposit, so that photo may be from the footage…
