A rain shadow works functionally because air that is forced up and over a mountain gets colder as it rises (lower pressure at higher altitude = expanding air = cooling) and loses its moisture as a result. The magic need only cool the air, let the rain fall, then reheat it to whatever ambient temperature they desire. | |
