WordPress.org – Profile – Change Email Address

    Operating System: GNU/Linux – Debian 12 bookworm – GNOME 43.6
    Browser: Google Chrome Version 126.0.6478.126 (Official Build) (64-bit)

    I am attempting to change my email address under my wordpress.org profile account. I received an “[WordPress.org Profiles] Email Change Request” at my new email address with a confirmation link that says:

    “If this is correct, please click on the following link to change it: https://profiles.wordpress.org/wp-admin/profile.php?newuseremail=code-redacted”

    I have attempted clicking, and copying/pasting (with the correct code in place on the URL) into my browser, and I keep receiving the following error:

    “You attempted to access the “WordPress.org Profiles” dashboard, but you do not currently have privileges on this site. If you believe you should be able to access the “WordPress.org Profiles” dashboard, please contact your network administrator.”

    I have also tried logging out and back in on the same browser, and no matter what I try, I keep getting the same error.

    I would recommend you contact forum-password-resets@wordpress.org about your issue.

    An update on my end:
    I am still attempting to resolve the issue with forum-password-resets@wordpress.org . It appears the link the system is giving me to confirm the email change is attempting to connect me to the WordPress admin dashboard to complete the change.

    Per the WordPress team response this is not allowed for unprivileged users:

    “It is impossible for you to use the dashboard on wordpress.org as that is never permitted for regular users.”

    This may be a bug for the “Change Email” process on the WordPress.org Profiles area for unprivileged users?

    Since it appears someone else is having the same issue, I will update as I have more info.
