• For years, I’ve been able to easily create a menu under appearance > menus.

Now, by default with a new install, this option is gone. The only way I can get it back is to install twenty twenty one theme – but that is a bandaid fix. Over time that theme will become obsolete or updated and I’ll face the same issue.

I’m genuinely curious who is behind this “improvement” so I can appropriately learn to curse their name?

For reference, without the menu option there I literally cannot create a menu with any installed block theme. When I go to edit a header, and insert the Menu widget it says “There are no menus in your site.
Go to the Menus screen to create one.

And of course, when I click said link – it says your website does not support menus. Omg?! This is physically NO way to insert, create or manage a menu without making the base theme Twenty One. WOW.

This is like watching the Titanic run into an iceberg, insanity!

  • Hi @mrbrodie94,
Well it seems you are looking to add a navigation menu in your site header. In new block theme introduced by wordpress, there is different method of adding a menu. As you mentioned when you edit the header, you can add a block named as “Navigation” which will allow to add menus. After selecting navigation block, there are setting configuration available in the right sidebar using which you can configure desired menu and items. You can find more details in theme documentation and/or video tutorials.
    Thanks!
