• Hi.
    My build:
    • ACF 4.4.12 (free)
    • ACF Content Analysis for Yoast SEO 2.0.1
    • Yoast SEO 5.7.1 (free)
    • HTML in Category Descriptions 1.2.1.1
    • Shortcoder 4.1.2

And i added a custom field with a WYSIWYG editor to the categories. Unfortunately the Yoast SEO ignoring this field.

Thanks for reporting. I’ve looked into this and it looks as if I can replicate it. Could you try something to confirm my suspicion?

When editing the category do this:

    1. Add something to the WYSIWYG added by ACF. Yoast ignores it.
    2. Edit something in the default “Description” field. Yoast should now pick up that change as well as the content from the ACF WYSIWYG field.

Does that work for you? If yes you have a temporary workaround and I know how to fix this in our code. 🙂

I did not really understand what to do, but I’ll try to do something. 😀
    So
    • Yoast report: 73 words
    • I added some words in the ACF field
    • Yoast report: 73 words
    • I deleted some text in the default field
    • Yoast report: 48 words

Sorry if I wasn’t clear enough. Let me try again:

    1. Create a new, empty category term so that Yoast says “0 words”
    2. Add 1 word to the ACF field. Yoast will still show “0 words”
    3. Add 1 word to the default field. Yoast should now show “2 words”.

So to summarize the issue is that Yoast does include the ACF field, it just doesn’t trigger an update of the word count when you edit the ACF field. So you need to make any change to the default field to trigger an update. I hope this is clearer now.

Any how I have also created an issue over at Github for what I was able to reproduce, I just wanted to make sure we’re talking about the same thing. Here is the link to the issue in case you want to follow that as well, but I’ll keep you update here in any case.

I followed Your instructions, and that’s what I did:
    • I created a new absolutely blank category
    • Then i opened editor for this category, Yoast: 0 words
    • Then i added 1 word to the ACF field. Yoast: 0 words
    • Ok. I added 1 word to the default field. Yoast: 1 word. Not 2 word
Yoast doesn’t see custom ACF field for any variants.

Okay, strange. I can’t reproduce this right now but we have the issue on our bug tracker so at some point we’ll look into it and report back here.

Thanks for your patience. I am still having a hard time reproducing this. Could you check to see if there are any JavaScript errors? Here is some help on how to check that: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-to-find-javascript-errors-with-your-browsers-console/
