Testing CF7 integration with a WordPress site on BrowserStack.

On MacOS / Mojave / Safari and iOS 11 2018 an error shows in the console: Error: SyntaxError: Unexpected token ‘.’

This relates to the Schema-Woven Validation script.

The issue means the form cannot be submitted via AJAX and refreshes the page instead.

It is not clear if this is an artifact of BrowserStack or an issue with CF7.

The example for here: https://contactform7.com/why-isnt-my-ajax-contact-form-working-correctly/ also fails and shows the same error.

Can anyone confirm if they have experienced the same issue? Or have a physical Mac running Mojave to test with?

@takayukister I wonder if you could take a quick look at this to confirm if the issue is in your plugin or to do with Browserstack?

@takayukister A brief update. Tested in Browserstack and LambdaTest. Issue is present on both MacOS High Sierra and Mojave (Safari). Tested in a clean WP install, no other plugins installed.

I had someone test on their iphone safari browser with this link https://contactform7.com/why-isnt-my-ajax-contact-form-working-correctly/

They were able to submit the form successfully.

Thanks @lukasz. Seems the issue is specific to older Mac OS versions. Mojave and High Sierra. iOS seems fine.

np..How old are those versions and what are the usage stats?

Pretty old, usage stats are between 1.5 – 5%. Normally I wouldn’t be too fussed about this. But I’ve site which relies on the success sent JS hook to show confirmation messages etc. Without AJAX submit this never gets triggered so users don’t get any feedback.

It’s to do with the SWV script. I tested a form that consisted of hidden fields only and it submitted fine.

Sounds like browser stack caught a legit bug but I doubt @takayukister will fix it in the support threads, you can go to his CF7 github and create a issue instead and maybe get more attention there.

Which version of Safari do you use?

High Sierra, Safari v11/11.1
Mojave, Safari v12/12.1

Issue also found on iPad Pro 11, 2018. iOS v12.1 running Safari.

I’ve checked your GitHub Issue. The error occurs because Safari 11.1 doesn’t support replaceAll(). To suppress the errors, I’ll add some fallback logic to safely move to non-Ajax submission mode (like we did for IE11).
