• When I try to update from version 9.1.0 to version 9.1.2, I get a message that the update was successful.
But if I go to “updates” in the admin panel, I see that an update to version 9.1.2 is required again
This situation is on all my sites!
    What to do?

  • Hi,

Where did you find an update to 9.1.2 ?

It seems that the latest stable version is 9.1.1, right?
In any case, that’s the version I’ve been offered and which is presented on this page:

There was version 9.1.2, but they have already removed it from the repository. This is all very strange and alarming. Developers update and rollback updates.

I think the testing department has been performing very poorly in the last few months.

    Ok, I understand now …
    I haven’t seen version 9.1.2 at all.

You’re right, test phases are not enough, and indeed this has been going on for some time now.
Personally, I let one or two releases pass before updating.

Thanks for your answer, because several posts were talking about this version, and I had no idea where it was coming from …

Yes, the team definitely needs to improve testing of their code.
Lately the update has been more like a death-defying ride.

There was version 9.1.2, but they have already removed it from the repository.

We received some questions a little earlier from some other users who saw a notification that 9.1.2 was available after we had tagged it (that is, after we uploaded it to the plugin directory) but before we marked it as the stable release.

I suspect that is the source of the confusion here, but we’re not sure why it was happening and nobody should have seen update notifications prior to the final step of marking it as ‘stable’ (if you are interested, you can bear this out by reading through the SVN log: if we had ‘pulled’ the release, this would be recorded there).

Yes, the team definitely needs to improve testing of their code.

We put a huge amount of effort into testing our code but, even so, I agree there have definitely been some unwanted surprises. We’re working hard to improve on this and get back to steadier ground.

This year in particular has been painful for WooCommerce.

Why does there even need to be a monthly release? The process of updating a store has become so tiresome and is surely pushing more people to Shopify.

    Hi there @probablynotphil,

I understand your concerns regarding the frequent updates and I appreciate your feedback.

In most cases, our developers implement monthly releases to ensure that they’re providing the most secure, efficient, and feature-rich platform possible for our users.

All updates often include security patches, bug fixes, and new features, all of which are intended to enhance your experience and the functionality of your store.

Updating can sometimes feel tiresome. To help with this, we’re constantly working on making the update process as seamless and straightforward as possible. It is always advisable to test the latest updates on a staging site to avoid messing with your live store.

We appreciate your feedback, and we’re always looking for ways to improve.
