I got a notice from my wordfence today that this plugin has been removed from wordpress.org. Checking the main page of the plugin, it states that this plugin has been closed as of February 11, 2021 and is not available for download but it is temporary.

So is this plugin dead or not?

I was forced to switch to “User Role Editor”

We couldn’t afford to have a plugin that was vulnerable and not updated.

FYI, My site got hacked last week. It was being used to send spam email seriously. Lots of weird files got injected into the folder.

I am not sure if this is caused by this plugin.

While this plugin might not be actively updated, your assumptions about it are quite a stretch without any evidence.

@mista-flo could you explain what kind of security report you received?

Your plugin is so clean & simple and i don’t want to upgrade to user role editor.
