I can’t get the Redirection plugin to accept my .csv file. No matter what I do I get “total redirects 0”.

I have tried with different headlings, different csv formats (from mac and google sheets) but I can’t import the redirects. The format is:

    /index.php/1999/02/19/bokslutskommunike-for-ortivus-1998/, /bokslutskommunike-for-ortivus-1998/

I found a “workaround”, because for some reason it is dang impossible to get the proper CSV on my mac.

    1) I created an excel file with two columns, source and target, saved it as Excel
    2) Opened up in Google Sheet
    3) Downloaded it as a CSV
    4) Imported it to the Redirection plugin without any problems.

    Problem solved.

    Hey Thomas!

Just a quick note. It’s always best to use Google Spreadsheet instead of Excel for almost everything you import into WordPress or WooCommerce. Something about the way Excel saves files, which they don’t plan on changing.

Hope that helps for future projects or issues that may arise from this!

    Best regards,

    Paul

Also confirming, saving a raw .csv from a text-editor didn’t work, but downloading from google-sheets worked.

The only noticeable difference between the manually created file and the one downloaded from google-sheets was that the source & target columns weren’t wrapped in double quotes.

So, it might just be a matter of formatting without quotes in the first place instead of copying the csv-formatting that Redirection exports

Also, it can take a couple of minutes for the import to complete. I just wound up with 500+ redirects from trying to import the same 70 redirects 1/2 dozen different times.
