How to tweak the backend?
-
I tweaked this theme but found out that the backend still shows the old style. Why? How can I change it so the editor shows the same thing as the frontend?

Hi @marco-raaphorst – I’m afraid I don’t entirely understand what you mean. Can you explain a little more about what you mean by ‘tweaking the theme’ ?
If you could share a link and screenshots that would be really helpful.
Hi @jordesign I changed the theme Twenty Twenty-Four using the blocks for changing the fonts for things like the titles etc. Here’s the result https://marcoraaphorst.nl
But the problem is that when I write a new post the default title of the Twenty Twenty-Four theme is shown and not the font I have selected in the Site Editor. I am expecting that both the front-end https://marcoraaphorst.nl and the editor in WP-admin (where you type your post/page) shows the same fonts for titles and other objects. I would expect it to be WYSIWYG.
Am I missing something? Or is this a limitation of WordPress or the theme?

Hi @marco-raaphorst – did you use the font library tool to change the fonts?
https://wpdeveloper.com/wordpress-font-library-add-manage-fonts/
Or did you do it in some other method?
Hi @jordesign Yes I used that.
Here’s a screenshot how the title show up in the editor for writing a single post in the wrong way:

And here’s how it looks like, correctly on the front-end:

Hey @marco-raaphorst Could you please try deactivating all plugins on your site – and see if that issue still occurs? It will help narrow down whether that’s some kind of conflict that’s happening.
I disabled them all, same issue
Hi there, if you install your font on a brand new site without any other modification, does it work as expected? You can try and test on https://wordpress.org/playground/. I would love as much context as possible to help you properly.
I found a bug! Somehow I had also installed the https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Inter font. I found out that this font is also part of the theme. No idea why I also installed it. But it seems to conflict when having both. When deleting the font I found out that the title of the single page was reset to the default. I then changed it to Inter and this is also shown in the editor. But font WEIGHT is not respected. So editor and front-end don’t look the same.
Hi there,
So, you mean that below, right?
- You installed Inter font, so it conflicted as it is already a default theme.
- It then worked and showed the font on the editor and on the site content,
- After that, you found that the
font-weight
is different for the editor vs. site content.
Can you share a screenshot on what you mean by the different weight?
Hi @foosantos
Yes what is happening is what you mention. Here’s how it looks like in the editor:
https://marcoraaphorst.nl/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/editor-title.webp
And here’s the font-end:
https://marcoraaphorst.nl/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/front-end.webp
Oh, I see your point.
Basically, the title doesn’t look exactly in the same way (even if the rest of the content shows as expected), right?
This is actually intentional, as it by default always shows the same size for the title, especially as some pages don’t even show the title visually and this part can’t really respect the WYSIWYG concept. 🙂
Ok, good to know
Great! In this case, I’ll mark this as resolved, but feel free to open a new topic or continue this conversation if you need further help.
Since the update to 6.6.1. the default font is show again in the editor. So the error is back! Or maybe it is caused by the latest theme update?
So since the update I am seeing this again: https://marcoraaphorst.nl/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/wrong-font.webp
And I cannot change it to anything else. On the frontend everything looks fine though. But imo front and back-end should look the same. WYSIWYG should be a must.
Hopefully changing fonts will be improved in future updates.

That’s really odd. Have you flushed your object cache (usually an option on your hosting)?
WYSIWYG should be a must.
Deeply agree. It generally shows as expected from my end, so I’m thinking it might be something related to the environment.
