• Hello,

I use Admin Menu Editor on all WP websites that I build.

Recently, all of my websites show a growing PHP error_log file,
with the same line repeating over and over:

PHP Warning: Undefined array key "parent" in
    /public_html/wp-content/plugins/admin-menu-editor/includes/menu-editor-core.php on line 1922

I’ve been seeing this now for a couple months, and am hoping you might provide an update to fix the issue.

    Thank You!

It looks like this warning was already reported a while ago, but I never figured out what exactly caused it. It hasn’t shown up in any of my tests. Still, I’ll add a small workaround in the next update that should prevent it.

If you don’t want to wait for the update, you could try the development version which already includes the patch:

    Hi Janis,

Thank you very much the considerate reply.

Also, BTW – I admire and appreciate your plugin greatly…
it has helped me to deliver WP sites with clean and well-organized admin areas for many years now.

I note that the PHP errors seem to only show up for installations using PHP 8.1 or higher.

I will be happy to email you credentials to review 1 or more sites where I can see the issue occurring if you’d like to look into the cause/effect, if you can let me know how/where to send it.

    Thank You

Thanks, it’s good to hear you like the plugin!

I think the upcoming fix will likely be good enough as-is, but if you still see the same issue with the next update – or if it causes some new error – then it might be useful for me to take a look at your site(s). You can then send me the details using this contact form (it goes to my email).
