    Hello.

    Using WordPress 6.3.

    I have created a child theme of TT3, and mostly all is well. However, I am unable to add new Google fonts.

    TT3 has dm-sans, ibm-plex-mono, inter, and source-serif-pro. These are all listed in the theme.json under type families as expected. The files are all in twentytwentythree > assets > fonts in their correct folders.

    However, when I am using my TT3 child theme, the fonts are not able to be loaded. In the Chrome dev console I get:

    index.js?ver=bd20665e4abaacbb9943:5     HEAD https://truesummercolors.com/wp-content/themes/twentytwentythree-child/assets/fonts/dm-sans/DMSans-Regular.woff2 net::ERR_ABORTED 404

    So, WordPress is expecting to find the font files in the child theme for some reason.

    Second, related issue. If I attempt to add any more fonts, the fonts get put into the twentytwentythree-child/assets/fonts directory correctly, and they get added to the twentytwentythree-child/theme.json, but they never show up in the “Manage Fonts” panel in WordPress admin dashboard.

    One final note. I seem to recall that at one point, I had fonts working the way I wanted, and then I switched the theme from my child to the actual TT3 theme. When I did that, I noticed incorrect fonts displayed, but I was troubleshooting something else, so I didn’t worry about it. After the other problem was understood, I went back and activated my TT3 child theme again. But from that point, I continue to have the fonts problem I am describing here.

    Can you help me out, please?

    Thanks tons.

  • @freakingid I assume you’re using Create Block Theme plugin, correct? if so the plugin forum would be the best to report the issue you’re experiencing. https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/create-block-theme/

    I’ve tried making a child theme with a plugin. The font in the parent theme worked until when I added a new font in the child theme. After that, I needed to re-add the font again in “Manage Theme Fonts” in the plugin while the child theme was active.
