Youu are right, you cannot use it out of the box to clone WooCommerce Products since it has a built-in duplication feature which is more reliable.
You can override this with a snippet, see the documentation here. But we definitely don’t recommend it.

we are not actively following the improvements on the WooCommerce side so we can’t be sure that Yoast Duplicate Post supports all the new features that have been added in the last few years.
For sure we don’t support duplicating variable products, for example.
