• Hi

I am using the services block from Coblocks and the image that I use from my media library is too large for the space provided and the edges are cut off.

I have tried changing the image in the library and nothing I try seems to work.

    Any advice gratefully received!

    Amy

    Hi @amydoubleyou

We’ve styled the images added to the Services block to fill the available space, keeping each Service listed consistent with the others. We do this because the width and height of the element can change depending on different screen sizes (such as mobile). Larger images will be cut-off but we provide a way to set a focal point of the image. This allows a specific point to always be shown regardless of how the size could change for each visitor.

Here’s how to set a focal point:
    1. Click the image you want to set the focal point on.
    2. Expand the “Image Settings” panel in the Block Settings sidebar. (https://d.pr/free/i/xvAcLQ)
    3. Choose the part of the image you want to be visible at all times.

As you are choosing a focal point, you can see the block change in realtime with the selection to get it exactly how you’d like.

Thanks @jrtashjian I have used the focal point setting for some of them and that will work but these are organisations logos which I just need to shrink a bit to fit in the frame provided otherwise words and/or part of the logo is missing and the focal point doesn’t make it any better. Is there anyway of just reducing the size of the image?

    Hi @amydoubleyou,

The services block does not have any ability to resize/crop images to make them fit at this time. This is something that our team can certainly explore in the future but this does not help you now. I would advise using an external tool to edit your images.

One free online image editor that I have used before is https://pixlr.com/editor/. (be sure to use the free one) or perhaps you have Adobe Photoshop or something similar? Using tools like this you can resize, crop, and adjust images accordingly. Using this method it may be easier for you to get the exact look you are looking for. Hope this helps.

    Best regards,

    Anthony

    Hi @amydoubleyou,

Here is an feature request that I have posted on the CoBlocks GitHub requesting the ability to crop images in Services block.
    https://github.com/godaddy/coblocks/issues/903
Feel free to follow along with our progress on implementing this feature.

    Best,

    Anthony
