    Hello,

    i’m selfhosting a wordpress-site running WP 6.5.4.

My mobile OS ist LineageOS 21 on Moto G7 Power (but issue also appears on Samsung SM-T500).

Since upgrade to version 25.0 i cannot edit oder add blocks in the app. I also tried using the new Jetpack app, but i have the same problem there.

Returning to Version 24.9 “solves” the problem.

    Anyone else facing this problem?

    Thanks in advance!

Edit: really only blocks are concerned. Uploads and using the classic editor works fine.

    Hi @arrappathor,

There have been some recent changes, such as an upgrade to the Android SDK, which might have caused this issue. For more information, you can refer to the related GitHub issue here.

However, please note that while we strive to support a wide range of devices and operating systems, our primary support is for standard Android and iOS platforms. LineageOS, being a custom ROM, may have unique compatibility challenges.

As a temporary workaround, you might consider continuing to use previous version of the app, where you did not encounter this problem, but be aware that using an older version is not generally recommended due to potential security vulnerabilities and missing features.

    Thanks.

I’ve also tested version 25.0 (and 25.1rc2) against Stock-Android 13 on Samsung SM-T500, resulting in the same behaviour.

I’ve then opened an issue on Github, as i was suprised to have a core-feature not working and somehow cannot believe to be the only one… ¯_(ツ)_/¯

    Hi @arrappathor,

Thank you for the additional information. It’s helpful to know that the issue also occurs on Stock-Android 13 on your Samsung SM-T500. This suggests that the problem is not exclusive to LineageOS.

Given that reverting to version 24.9 resolves the issue, it does seem likely that the problem is related to changes introduced in version 25.0. Since you’ve already opened an issue on GitHub, that’s a great step towards getting this resolved by the developers.

In the meantime, you might consider the following temporary solutions:

    1. Continue using the Classic Editor: Since you mentioned that the classic editor works fine, you can use this for block edits until the issue is resolved in a future update.
    2. Older app version with caution: If security is a concern, use the older version only when necessary for block editing and switch back to the latest version for other tasks.
    3. Web access: Consider using the web interface of WordPress for editing blocks. This can serve as a reliable alternative without the compatibility issues.

It’s also helpful to keep the community updated on your GitHub issue, as it might prompt others facing the same problem to contribute their insights or temporary fixes.

Hopefully, the developers will address this swiftly in an upcoming release.

    Best regards,

    Hey there @arrappathor!

We have a new beta RC4 that has a fix for this issue, would you mind trying it out? This will ship to the Play Store in the upcoming days. Thanks for reporting the issue!
