    I got this plugin a couple months ago and it worked at first, but now all my photos can be accessed. I have REST API disabled – is that the issue (I saw it mentioned in some other posts here)?

    I did the mangle thing but I am not sure how long it takes and I suppose caching affects it? So I can’t tell yet if it worked. However, I can see any media file as long as I have the link (not logged in, different browser) and Google indexes everything. Ugh.

    Any suggestion? (I don’t want to link my site for privacy reasons. Privacy is what i desperately need for my pictures. thanks).

    Hello! This plugin does not prevent users from accessing files in the upload directory using a direct link. It only disables a WordPress feature called “attachment pages”. These are HTML pages that contain an embedded version of the media file. Main purpose of this plugin is to prevent search engines from indexing these “attachment pages”. If you want to prevent users from accessing media files directly, you will need to use a different plugin, for example this one:
