    Dear all,

I used to bulk edit many images at once, first selecting several with the click box, then selecting the “edit” option on the top scrolldown menu, and finally the “apply” button. At this point, instead of getting blank boxes of the corresponding image fields I receive the message “Item [number of the image], no changes detected”. As if I had already attempted to submit the changes, which I did not.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Thanks for your report. I have not been able to reproduce this issue on my system and have not had any other reports of something similar. I haven’t made any recent changes in that part of the plugin code.

I assume the problem is on the Media/Assistant admin screen; is that right? If so, can you tell me where the message “Item [number of the image], no changes detected” appears?

Can you try an experiment? Try selecting the “Thumbnail” option on the top scrolldown menu, then clicking “Apply”. You should see a “Generate Thumbnails” area, which you can click “Cancel” to close without any changes. Does that work properly?

It’s possible, but not likely, that the JavaScript code MLA uses to process the Edit bulk action is corrupted in some way. You can try clearing your browser cache or doing a “hard refresh” of the Media/Assistant screen to rule that out.

I regret that without more information I am at a loss to explain the problem. I will leave this topic unresolved and hope to see an update from you. Thanks for your understanding and your interest in the plugin.

I am also have an issue related to the bulk editor. Our ISP Dreamhost does not generate thumbnails when I upload pdfs. It has been several years since I asked for Dreamhost support from them, but they are blocking some aspect of imagemagick, as I recall, for security reasons. So we have been using the bulk editor to generate the thumbnails which has been working well.

However, this week after updating to WP 6.5.5 and MLA 3.17, after selecting the pdf items in the list view and then bulk selecting ‘thumbnail’, the thumbnail is properly generated, but we no longer see the pop-up window with the options to generate the thumbnail.

Thanks, @pcoweb for your report. I am sure there is a bug in there somewhere even though I haven’t experienced it.

I will investigate further, but I regret that I will be unable to do so until the second half of July. I will be away from my development system for a while. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

@ritaudina, @pcoweb, Thank you for your patience! I now have time to look into this problem and I have done some preliminary research. I have a hypothesis, but I will need your help to investigate further.

It will be much easier to proceed by email. If you contact me at my web site I will give you more details. I can post a summary here when the issue is resolved.

I have uploaded a new MLA Development Version dated 20240730 that may correct the problem with bulk actions such as Edit and Thumbnails.. You can find step-by-step instructions for using the Development Version in this earlier topic:

How to download & install the current development version of MLA

Once the Development Version is installed you can retest the handling of Bulk Edit and Thumbnail Generation operations.

The fix will be part of my next MLA version, but in the interim it would be great if you could install the Development Version and let me know if it works for you. Thanks for alerting me to this MLA defect.
