• Hi

I have been told that every time one makes changes in a template through the Site Editor that it breaks the news section on the front page. https://www.permakultur.no/
To fix the bug one has to go to edit the Home page and then update it.

The site uses the default theme Twenty Twenty Three and full site editing.
Let me know what kind of additional info you need to figure out this bug.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi,

    Thanks for reaching out.

Could you please provide some screenshots about the specific changes made in the template through the Site Editor?

This will help me better understand the issue and provide you with a more accurate solution.

    Thanks for the response!

    The client told me this:
My experience is that the issue is not related to any specific types of changes. The simple fact of saving an updated version of any template breaks the display of the block in the front-end. It’s very annoying but, luckily, it’s easy to fix by afterwards updating the homepage in edit mode. Then everything works fine again. I therefore have to remember to always update the homepage again after having updated a template…

I have cloned the live site over to a dev site and we can figure out a way to where I give you temporary access to test it out.

I made a recording while the client showed the issue.
It seems that it is mainly the front page that has the error.
The error shows up when doing something or just saving a pattern or template. Here is the video: https://youtu.be/XKsOjDHiOO8 (It is unlisted on youtube.)

So the client has become used to modifying a pattern/template and then making sure to go to the home/front page and then resaving. As resaving the page brings the page back into normal layout.

    Hi,

Thank you for providing the details. I appreciate your cooperation. Our development team will thoroughly investigate the issue with the full site editor and take the necessary steps to address it.

If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to ask.

    That is great to hear!

I told the client about this and asked her to test.
    I received the following feedback.

I updated the plugin and tested it in two different websites in the safari browser. Here is what I found:

    permakultur.no
The issue no longer appear when I update a pattern block so that’s a big step forward.
Unfortunately, the issue still persists when I make updates to a page template or the WordPress style editor.

    xundteam.ch
The issue still persists as before, even when I update a pattern block.

Not sure why it’s not the same for the two site. The only difference from my side was that for permakultur.no I updated the plugin yesterday and tested it today. For xundteam.ch I updated the plugin today and tested it immediately afterwards.

Another update from the client. She told me when she tested again that there are still problems with the pattern block at the permakultur.no web site.
