Edit the WordPress.com Footer Credit

The footer credit is the line at the bottom of your site’s footer identifying your site as a WordPress.com site. This guide will show you how to edit or remove it.

All WordPress.com users can choose among several options for the footer credit:

The footer credit is displayed at the bottom of all WordPress.com websites and can be removed if your site uses a block theme. For classic themes, you can remove the footer credit with a Creator or Entrepreneur plan subscription.

To edit the footer credit, follow the steps below.

If your site is using a block theme, you can change the footer credit by taking the following steps:

  1. Visit your site’s dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Appearance → Editor.
  3. Scroll down to the footer credit (i.e. “Designed with WordPress”).
  4. Click on the text to edit it as you would any other block on your site. 
  5. Click the “Save” button.

To remove the footer credit, follow the steps below.

If your site is using a block theme, you can change the footer credit by taking the following steps:

  1. Visit your site’s dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Appearance → Editor.
  3. Scroll down to the footer credit (i.e. “Designed with WordPress”) and click on it once.
  4. In the toolbar that appears, click the ellipses (three dots) at the end.
  5. Click the “Delete” option.
  6. Click the “Save” button.
