Vedette is a small outpost in a remote area of Toussaint, near the Cervantes Pass.

The word vedette means "star" or "celebrity" in French, so it would suggest a more prominent role for the place, but possibly the name is ironic.
It is also a military term for "sentry" or "outpost".
