The Witcher[]

Squirrel puff

Token of the Scoia'tael

Squirrel puffs, or tails, are skinnable items, of a sort except these come from people. The tails are used as a form of symbol and decorate the helmets of members of the Scoia'tael. They, like all other additional goods, have no alchemical value whatsoever. They can not be sold or traded, as it seems.

Associated quest[]

Location[]

Wherever one finds dead Scoia'tael:

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt[]

There are two versions of the squirrel tail in the third game.

Quest item[]

If one decides to kill the Scoia'tael unit during Contract: Woodland Beast, one of these must be collected from Vernossiel or her comrades to give to the Redanian captain as proof. As all of them will drop the item, more than one can be collected, but extra copies are unnecessary and can't even be sold or dismantled.

Associated quest[]

Junk item[]

This version is a junk item and was likely intended to be more common, but after large portions of cut content, only one known source of these remains - the Temerian Guerillas who help in Radovid's assassination during Reason of State. Some of them will inevitably die and squirrel tails can appear as random loot on their remains. Theoretically, other corpses classified as Temerian should be able to have the item as random loot, but it is unknown if such are even placed anywhere.

Squirrel tails should also be sold by a quartermaster at the Temerian Partisan Hideout, who however doesn't appear during gameplay due to a bug.
