Markus Braibant (d. 1268) was the commander of the 4th Cavalry Army of Nilfgaard, reporting to Field marshal Menno Coehoorn. He fought and died in the Battle of Brenna. Later, an academy bearing his name was constructed in the capital. During the Northern Wars, he was described as an old man with a grizzly grey beard.[1]

Biography[]

Sometime in the 1260s, Braibant under the instructions of Emperor Emhyr var Emreis, sent a unit commanded by Ola Harsheim and Dacre Silifant to suppress the uprising in Nazair.[2]

In mid-July 1267, under the central command of Coehoorn, Braibant fought alongside the Imperial Army against a combined Aedirnian-Lyrian force at the gates of Aldersberg. The battle resulted in a Nilfgaardian victory.[1]
