Intersections are places where Power is most easily accessible.[1] They are found where two or more ley lines converge.[2]
Magically gifted individuals are able to detect intersections through a slight cramping in the ring finger, extending downward. To mundane people, intersections are invisible, but one could locate them by finding a place marked with dried-up tries and gnarled plants, avoided by most of the animals. Cats like sleeping and resting on intersections, absorbing magical energy in the process.[1]
The most potent intersections are often "enhanced" by erecting standing stones called places of Power or circles of Elements.[3] Stabilizing an intersection by carving complex sigils on the obelisk allows a safer way to draw Power than from "naked" intersections or ley lines.[2] While most of such monuments were built by ancient elves,[3] the rituals allowing creation of such are known to some mages, priests, and druids of other races.[2]
