Biruta Anna Marquette Icarti was a sorceress from Rissberg and one of the eighteen masters operating there.[1]

Articulate and having delusions of being a superior magician, she was loyal to her kin. During the confusion on Rissberg, Sorel Degerlund was on her side. She even sent an official letter to the Chapter, which suggested gracious punishment for the young wizard. She was forced to leave the castle and devoted to the pedagogy of Aretuza.[1]
Witch hunts[]
In 1272, during the witch hunts in Redania, she sent a letter to Margarita Laux-Antille after the Royal Redanian Army and witch hunters took over Aretuza. According to Biruta, some students were evacuated by Nina Vivero, but the rest were killed; Aretuza's library was also burned.[2]
