Bastoy Prison Ruins are in the Gorgon Foothills in western Toussaint.

History[]

Prior to Henri III's failed prison reform, an enlightened experiment which resulted in prisoners feeling free enough to try to break out, Bastoy served as the duchy's main jail.

After the riots, Bastoy became gradually unused. One of its last convicts was witcher Merten of the School of the Manticore. By 1275 it was already completely abandoned and replaced by the Toussaint Prison.

Trivia[]

  • The prison's a reference to the Bastille in Paris, as both were stormed and destroyed after a rebellion. Its name's also similar to one Norwegian prison.
