This is a great iron, despite some of the negative reviews. Either the company has updated the iron since some of those, or people just have unrealistic expectations. Here's what I found (as well as counter-point to some of the negatives):
- Temperature control - it's a breeze. Synthetic is truly a mild heat, while cotton and linen are very hot.
Perfect for every job
- Water capacity - more than sufficient. I've ironed two full loads of clothes on high heat/medium steam
(like 10 shirts, 5 pants/shorts) and still had plenty left in the tank
- Filling the tank is pretty easy. Yes you do have to have the iron in the same position as if you're
ironing, but with the large capacity tank I only have to fill before I start ironing. I have filled once
during ironing and just did it over the sink.. no big deal
- Easy to tip over - I don't find that's the case. It sits fairly stable and is about average weight

Other things I like is how, when you swing the readout to fill, there's a little damper there that opens up. This closes when you close the readout making it an additional seal for the water reservoir. This iron cools so much faster than my previous one.. love that I can put it away within an hour or so of ironing. I also like the retractable cord; so convenient. If there's any thing I'd ask for is a cord that's about a foot longer. That would mean the iron would be bulkier to accommodate it, so I'm okay with it's current length.

This was a great purchase.. I highly recommend!

My review after using it the first time: It's a good iron. Strong steam, not too heavy, glides smoothly, heats up quickly. Great iron if you have cotton and linen clothes. The tank holds 1.5 cups of water. My one complaint is the fact that it's almost impossible to see the water level because of how dark the tank is. My remedy: keep a measuring cup with 1.5 cups of water ready for times I have lots of clothes to iron. The other concern is the retractable cord. I like it but hope it continues to work and not get stuck. This feature also makes the iron taller and more bulky. Overall, pleased with this Chi iron.

I’ve never owned a professional steam iron, and I now have discovered that it makes all the difference in the world. I generally have purchased cheap irons and gotten by with them. However, this iron has convinced me that the professional iron makes all the difference. Though another brand is often more highly rated, this brand received equally high marks, and I decided to give it a try. I am greatly satisfied with its performance. I am amazed at how well it steams out wrinkles in high quality dress shirts on the first pass. It does equally well on cotton fabrics such as those found in table napkins and handkerchiefs. One wastes no time in going back over areas to remove wrinkles because one time does it. This iron is fabulous!

The titanium plate and 400 steam holes make it extremely good at distributing steam heat and at not sticking to fabrics. Moreover, the burst-of-steam feature helps with stubborn wrinkles that otherwise might take more than one pass. It is advertised as being able to smooth the wrinkles in hanging curtains. (Though I have not tried that feature, I believe it probably could do it.) with a great selection of temperature settings for a variety of fabrics, it should meet anyone’s needs for virtually any ironing situation. The retractable cord is simply an added bonus.

Well it is a bit heavier than your run-of-the-mill iron, it’s no more than approximately 4 pounds, and given that it cuts once ironing time considerably, I didn’t notice the extra weight being a problem. Purchase it, and I think you’ll love it.
